1) I assume Freddie's playing the piano. Also, singing his own backup
vocals. Am I right on this? If not, please give me the correct info.
2) Who are the other musicians and what instruments do they play?
3) Can someone give me the correct album dedication? I believe it was
dedicated to his cats or cat lovers.
I like the fact that Queen gave detailed credits on their albums. It helps
me enjoy their musicianship even more, knowing who played what, etc.
Thanks so much.

There was an interview with Brian where a reporter asked Brian about
that. Brian said basically that Freddie had really wanted to go out
and do something that was entirely his own without the band, but that
he (Brian) was disappointed that Freddie had chosen someone who tried
to clone his guitar style to play on the album. He said that he wished
that if Freddie had wanted that sound, he'd have just asked him to play.
(Note, this is not a quote, just from memory. I don't have time to
look it up right now.)

That's not Mr. Bad Guy, that's The Great Pretender. And Brian isn't on
either album. I agree that Man Made Paradise sounds kind of like him,
though.

Sheri,
What do you know of Paul's post claiming that Brian did in fact play
on the album and is credited on the Hollywood Records rerelease liner
notes?

Paul,
But it is true that Brian is not credited on the original Columbia
label release, right? In fact, Freddy thanks Brian, John and Roger
for "not interfering".

Mr. Bad Guy hasn't been released by Hollywood Records!! "The Great
Pretender" album was released by Hollywood, but it is an album of remixes
and does not include all the songs from "Mr. Bad Guy". The songs that
are from that album do not appear in their original form. The "Brian"
credited on the 'The Great Pretender' is Brian MALOUF for remixing, not
Brian May. Brian May is not credited, nor did he play, on any songs on
the album.
If you haven't heard the songs as they originally appeared on Mr. Bad
Guy, it would be well worth your while to get a copy of that album.
They're better than the remixes!

Um, I have The Great Pretender, and Brian May is mentioned nowhere in
the liner notes. "Man Made Paradiase is not even on The Great
Pretender. Sorry.

I already answered this in the other thread, but Hollywood Records did
*not* release Mr. Bad Guy at all. The album they released is called "The
Great Pretender". It's not the same album. "The Great Pretender" is the
approximate equivalent to "The Freddie Mercury" album which was released
in Europe. (There are a few differences.) Both of those albums are
albums of remixes, not original versions of songs, and they do not
contain even remixed versions of all the songs from "Mr. Bad Guy", and
have a few remixes of songs which were not on that album. "The Great
Pretender" is a song that wasn't on "Mr. Bad Guy" at all. It was
originally just a single.
Paul said that Brian was given credit on the song "The Great Pretender",
but in fact, that wasn't Brian May, it is credited as being mixed by
Brian Malouf with no mention at all of Brian May.

"Though the road seems never ending
Hold on to the hope I'm sending through..." Brian May 1992
Hollywood Records never released Mr. Bad Guy.
The original US version was released by Colombia, and
Brian is NOT credited in the liner notes, except
for the "thanks for not interfering" line.
Also, Brian was not involved in the remixes for the European
Freddie Mercury Album and the American Great Pretender album.
So you won't hear him playing guitar on these CDs either.
