>Does anyone have the album version of Live Killers? (You know, those 12"
>black things? ) What's the difference between that and the CD version. Is
>it also bleeped out on "Death On Two Legs?" Where specifically was it
>recorded (or on what tour)?
All copies of the album are bleeped, including the original 1979 gatefold
pressing which I've got
A friend of mine had a bootleg of the gig they took Death On Two Legs on
and basically Freddie says something like "this is about a cock sucking
motherfucker" - so I've been told
Can't remember the date off the top of my head though :-(
Here's the song list from the Live Killers album (don't have the CD so
can't compare)
We will rock you
Let me entertain you
Death on two legs (yes, bleeped)
Killer queen
Bicycle race
I'm in love with my car
Get down, make love
you're my best friend
Now I'm here
Dreamer's ball
Love of my life
`39
Keep yourself alive
Don't stop me now
Spread your wings
Brighton rock
Bohemian rhapsody
Tie your mother down
Sheer heart attack
We will rock you
We are the champions
God save the queen
So, anything different from the CD?
and from one of the dustsleeves: "The material for this album was
recorded by John Etchells on the Queen European Tour January-March 1979
using the Manor Mobile manned by Peter Greenslade, Ken Capper, and Steve
Cater. Mixing was done at Mountain Studies, Montreux...[etc]."
The dustsleeves, BTW, (one green and one red) have a lengthy description
of how the tracks are set out, the evolution of their live sound and of
their stage show (what songs were added when, how they differ from studio
albums, &c.)

The lining for the CD seems to have the same info.
What other Live Queen albums (besides Wembley, that is) are out on CD?

Live Magic has been released on CD, but only in Europe. There is also "At the
Beeb" which was recorded live for the BBC, but not from a concert.

Cool. I've seen At the Beeb here in Toronto. Is it good? (Well, anything
Queen does is good, what I mean is: is the sound quality good? )
Also, has anybody in the Toronto area seen Live Magic (on CD, that is)?

I have Live Magic & Live at the Beeb discs. They are both exquisite. Here in
the US they are available as imports, but any good shop can order them quite
easily. Live Magic basically follows the 1986 Hugarian shows documented in
the Live Magic videotape. I never bought the Wembley CD because I bought
the Wembley songbook instead. Wembley has a few more cuts on it, but they're
just old standard covers like "Tutti Frutti" otherwise it's basically the same
set as Live Magic. IMO Live Magic has more 'presence' and is a better live
recording. The Wembley songbook is a bit basic & does transcribe a few riffs
easier than the recording, but it is a good source for the Highlander tunes

>Hello, this is Beth. Isn't there a Queen live Killers album out?
I've never heard it but I suppose that It would be good.
Beth
It's 'At The Beeb', not 'Live At The Beeb'. The point is that it's *not*
a live record; it was recorded in session for the BBC in the BBC studios.

Well, I really like it. To me it sounds very "embryonic." I mean you
can hear in it what Queen would eventually become.

I got my CD copy of Live Magic at the Pickering Flea Market about 4 years
ago, and have seen it around a few other times. My reular advice for
Canadian fans is to keep scouring the used record shops, the import
shops, and the collectible fairs. In the last week here in Guelph, I
have managed to snatch up a copy of Shove It in good cond. for $1 (!!!)
and an almost new copy of Fun in Space for $6 (!!).

The sound quality is good. But it's not a live album. It's studio recorded,
but the songs sound different then the ones released on Queen I and II.
I think these songs were used as demos by Queen's manager when searching
for a record label who would sign the group. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm too lazy to go and read the insert right now.
Anyway, it's good. Get it. I like singing the "Liar, you're l-lying to
me. Liar, you're l-lying to me.." part right before the "Father please
forgive me. You know you'll never leave me..". That part's not included
on the Beeb version. :)
And since we're back on the subject of Beeb, what does Roger say in a
funny voice in the middle of Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll, where on the
Queen I version he says "Yeah listen to me baby let me tell you what it's
all about." ?
Other parts I like about the Beeb recordings:
- Roger and Freddie's "jungle noises" in the middle of Keep Yourself Alive.:)
- Roger gets to sing a verse of Doin' Alright.

The digitally remastered version might be better

I've also seen a CD from a concert in cologne recorded sometime in the 80s
and a couple of CDs from gigs in japan. they were all available in "proper"
record stores so I don't think they were illegal recordings

++++++++
The last one says on the inside cover
recorded live in Rio De Janeiro, Brasil, Jan 11, 1985
The front cover is a picture from It's a hard life, the back cover from
I want to break free. The booklet is only one page, the middle spread is
from the film clip Blcycle Race without the distorion or censorship in place
which makes it very interesting viewing!!! I am not sure but it must be a
bootleg.
The number on it is bc 008 and says made in Italy by Future Disc - 01 94
S.I.A.E.
I have a question what does "Reina De Ipanema" mean? And does anybody else
have this album?
I picked my copy up in a collectors place here in Melbourne.
: >Live Magic has been released on CD, but only in Europe.
This can not be true unless Australia is part of Europe. Now my Geography is
not that good (Nor is my spelling) but it took me at least 20 odd hours to get
to Europe by plane last year from Melbourne. It has been released elsewhere!

Well, A Day At The Stadium has GREAT sound, and beautiful pictures of the
band in the booklet. The songs are all on Live at Wembley, though, which
is sort of a bummer. Any live albums with DIFFERENT songs? I have
Live Killers, of course...

A Day At the Stadium _is_ the Wembly Concert, despite the fact that the
back of the back cover says "Recorded Live in London, Summer 1985." (The
only concert Queen played London in 1985 was the Live Aid concert, which
this definitely isn't.) The interplay with the audience and the audience
response is exactly the same as the Live At Wembly recording. ADATS is
half the songs in a slightly different order.
