Plus, he's ugly.
I wouldn't say YMBF is one of my favourites, but nevertheless I quite
like it. I know you're not being serious when you go on about you
begin right and all that so I'll ignore it and get to the point: John
seems to be criticised because of his quiet nature and the fact that
he didn't sing (not necessarily because of his (imo wonderful) songs).
I would much prefer to have an excellent bass player who doesn't sing
but writes good songs rather than have an average bass player who
sings but doesn't write good songs, if you get my gist!! :)
All in all, I like John. The fact that he never sang makes no
difference to me and I think I Want To Break Free was an important yet
strange song for Queen.
>Plus, he's ugly.
That's a silly thing to say :/

Sorry, I don't agree. There is a bit of rib-poking about his vocals
(or lack thereof) and his apparent disappearance from the face of the
planet, but personally, I think he is one of the most underrated bass
players out.
And, as you said, he wrote some of Queen's more commercially
successful songs. Actually, it would be interesting to compare his
"album contributions vs commercial hits" ratio to the others. I think
he'd be way past Roger... Can I be bothered doing the research? Not at
the moment!! :-)
Call the John jibes "in-jokes". I can't see any criticism in the
comments.

I think you're drunk- but your spelling is good 50% of the time!!! :-)
:-)
I don't think anyone's got anything against John.
Ciao!

An inherently contradictory statement...

I've put my bit in about this somewhere else, but I'd like to add:
Some of his earlier stuff was very "poppy"- YMBF, Need Your Loving
Tonight. But have a look later when he seemed to go a bit more Funk
and started working with Freddie- My Baby Does Me, for example.
I like the poppy stuff- when I'm in the mood for poppy stuff.
Plus, I'm sure every songwriter has their "embarrassing" songs.

So what if he's ugly? It's in the eye of the beholder. And I listen to
Queen. It's been almost 13 years since I saw them last...
'Misfire'
'You and I'
'Spread Your Wings'
'Who Needs You'
'If You Can't Beat Them'
'In Only Seven Days'
...and *many others* that I can't be bothered to list now. PLUS, many
that we don't know about. You can't write anyone off who makes up one
quarter of the band that you love! Without him, Queen wouldn't be
Queen - the same goes for other members of the band.

Fine! Nothing wrong with that!
... And he was responsible for "Emma E-M-M-A" from the Live in Budapest
Video. This is footage of the ultimate rock star in action.
The guy is brilliant!
Well, that's my 2c worth!

E-M-M-A???!!! What's all this? Eh?eh?eh?eh?eh?eh?
> Message received - but I still don't like the majority of his songs.
Fairy Nuff. There is no need to knock the guy cos if it though!
All decent albums need a variety of tempo and style. All the band could
do this but Deaky provided some of the better laid back stuff to be
heard, especially on the earlier albums. (You and I spings to mind - top
song)
You never could forsee the future years...
