dudes like Henrix, Krieger, etc aside...
I really like Brian Wensing of F/i.
You mention Chris Carrer, but not John W?
Also: Roky Erikson, Huw Lloyd-Langton, Helios Creed, Tommy Grenas, Paul
Casanova (Escapade)...
Chuck
I haven't heard much F/i yet.
> You mention Chris Carrer, but not John W?
You're right,I should mention John Weinzierl,too.
"Phallus Dei","Yeti" and "Tanz der Lemminge" have some of the greatest guitars.
How about one John L,as a singer on Ash Ra Tempel's "Schwingungen"?

Roky,Stacy Sutherland...
Escapade is great band.Huw Lloyd-Langton on "Levitation" and "Sonic attack".
Tommy Grenas,I've heard only on Anubian Lights "Let not the flame die out".
I'd add also:
Eddie Hazel (Funkadelic)
Joe Docko (Mystic Tide)
Dudes from Spacious Mind,Tangle Edge and Word of life.

I haven't heard a lot of 13FE and its offspring, but Is this some
kind of arcane humour? There doesn't seem to be much guitar work
going on on those albums at all, just some basic chord comping buried
down in the mix.
By the way, someone should make mention (so, me I guess) of Gary Duncan
in this thread. I love the kind of snaky middle eastern flavour he
got on the early QMS albums with the stress on the added second, rolling
off the flat third of the standard r&r pentatonic. It seems to me that's
a real hallmark of the psychedelic sound.

Disclaimer: all I know I learned from reading Usenet.
The guitarist in question is the astounding Nick Saloman, with occasional help
from the amazing Bari Watts.
I would also like to add the following:
Kawabata Makoto (Acid Mothers Temple, Musica Transonic, Toho Sara)
Matt Piucci (Rain Parade)
Paul Simmons (Alchemysts, who did a great record with Simeon from Silver Apples
in addition to their own)
Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers, Drain)
Jeff Kelly (Green Pajamas, Goblin Market, solo - and among the most underrated
sonwriters around)
Gary Ramon (Sundial)
Karl Precoda (Dream Syndicate, Last Days of May)
