I just moved to San Jose and I'd appreciate it if someone could point me
toward some good music stores in the area that have a good
Progressive Rock and/or Progressive Jazz selection. Also, if this same
person or someone else would know of any good bands to see in the San
Jose area (prog or no) with dates place and time, It would be appreciated
as well.

Best stores are in Berkeley, about a 45 minute drive (no, maybe 1hr?)
Two good stores are Amoeba and Rasputins, about a block from each other,
both on Telegraph ave. about 3 blox from the campus.

Another good place is Saturn records on College ave. in Oakland, I think.
It's on college about 3 blocks north of Broadway....the owner is an old
prog-head, I've found lotsa good stuff there.

In San Jose itself....well, Streetlight on Bascom a few blox south of 280
is okay, but not great...you'll have to dig long and hard to turn up
anything worthwhile...no reliable selection of prog.

CD Warehouse on El Camino near Fair Oaks in Sunnyvale has a decent selection,
nothing compared to the Berkeley stores, but they do carry some imports, and
I recall seeing some Musea, WMMS, and Mantra titles there from time to time.

There's a place in Cupertino called Circular Motions...I haven't been there
in about 4 years, they were a little expensive and....like the selection
was good when CDs were few, but last time I was there I walked out empty
handed.

There's another place near San Jose state univ. on Santa Clara and 10th
I think, mostly used, and mostly crap, but in an hour of digging last year
I came up with some cool stuff, incl. the hard to find Pink Floyd "Relics"
disc.
