FORT WORTH (May 12, 2015) A Fort Worth police officer who opened
fire on a drug suspect as the man tried to back his pickup over
a plainclothes officer during an arrest attempt was on
administrative leave Tuesday.

Police say the incident happened as authorities investigated a
complaint of drug activity Monday at a house.

Officers pulled their vehicles in front of and behind the wanted
man, as he began to back out of the driveway of the home, police
said.

The officers got out of their vehicles and were approaching the
pickup when the suspect, who was named in several warrants,
reversed the truck, accelerated, and forced a plainclothes
narcotics officer to jump onto the grass to get out of the way.

She sustained minor injuries.

A uniformed officer fired repeatedly at the suspect, who was
pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was wanted on felony warrants for aggravated assault of
a police officer, evading arrest and two felony narcotics
warrants.
