From Detroit Free Press:
"I JUST call him 'brother,' " Sharon Nelson
Blakley said, "but if I'm mad at him, I call
him something else. No one else can pronounce the
symbol, that's for sure." Blakley was talking
about the artist formerly known as Prince, who
figures in the autobiography she is writing. So does
their father, John L. Nelson, who shared a Grammy
for "Purple Rain" in 1985.

I met this lady(I think). I was leaning on her Jag at the aftershow.
I didn't know if I could half believe that she was his sister--
half sister. I was outside of the New Daisy after the Memphis
aftershow witnessing some of Prince's antics and getting autographs from
band members. She gave me a sheet of record company contacts, and said
"this is what I do." She said that she worked for a division of Sony(?).
She did call him "Prince" and was fascinated that had the symbol
around my neck. She's married and lives in Tennessee--Nashville,
if I'm not mistaken. It was kinda interesting. The only other thing
she said was, "there's a lot of us"--meaning there were an abundance
children by John L. Oh yeah, she also implied that she had a little
something to do with the Love 4 One Another website. Hmmm....

I thought Sharon lived in New York? You are very correct, John L has
quite a few kids. I doubt very seriously, if Prince was truly close to
any of his step and half siblings , besides Duane the nut-case... Maybe,
it was because they actually went to school together , and Prince had to
compete against him and stuff.
He hardly ever mentions Tyka though.

Maybe she does... but hearing about Sharon sorta triggered the memory.
I didn't exactly remember her name, but "Sharon" seemed to ring a bell.
Maybe it was Michelle or something, I'm not certain. I don't think she
was all that close to him, because she was over beside her Jag while he
and the band were loading the bus. It was rather interesting though.

Also, someone in an article described Sharon in the same way you
described Duane. I don't know.

Patrick,

I just recieved Liz Jones' "Slave 2 the Rhythm book. You're right,
Sharon IS also a nut-case.
She had the nerve to ask the writer, " Why aren't the rest of the family
out there makin' money in show business?"....What the hell? Why is it
that every time there is a famous sibling the others want to be famous
too? Look, at the Jacksons...Almost all of them lived off of Mike and
maybe now Janet? There is nothing wrong with going to dental school or
becoming a bus driver, or school teacher or something.

Hey, we all saw what happened to LaToya. Did she and Rebie teach us
nothing? Hey, Centipede was a hit, but she learned to say no, I imagine
since we didn't hear anything after that. Do we really want to see LaToya's
story happen to any of the Nelsons? (And to think, Prince wanted to date
that nightmare!) Sharon, leave well enough alone dear and just drive away .
. . .

Peace!

Oh no! Prince wanted to date LaToya?? hehe I wonder if he'd look as much
like her now as he looks like Mayte? Wow, that could be a scary couple!

I used to think LaToya was incredible looking. Around the time her FIRST album
came out. I had every pic of her I could find plastering my bedroom walls. I
used to even draw portraits of her in charcoal. Yep, I had a serious crush on
Miss LaToya. Of course, I hadn't actually HEARD her sing.....

Then she was abducted by some weird Alien nation... and was converted.

Yeah, I too used to think she was an attractive woman, but then I noticed
the surgery thang getting way outta hand . . . and the album! EEK! "You
wanna get rocked?!" (Can you stop laughin' already?!) I had the album at
one time but can't seem to find it anymore. Must have lost it when I moved
to LA. I remember thinking at the time "she has a nerve recording his song
when she wouldn't go out with him!" I am certain he's glad she had the good
sense at least once to save them both by declining any liaison he may have
had in mind. They never would have made it together anyway, LaToya talks
entirely too much to be involved with our man. He'd have had to gag her
daily!

And yes, most definitely Mayte and the Artist favor each other so very much
it's a little spooky. Glad I ain't the only fish who noticed that. Perhaps
her looking so much like him allowed him to let her a little closer than any
other female has ever been . . . . ? There is just too much to speculate
about on this issue, huh? :-)

So, do you think the Aliens will ever return LaToya to the Earth?

Peace!

Sharon may be a nutcase, but she was very nice to me when I met her in New York
City. She gave me a copy of John L.'s Cd "Father's Song."
