LARRY GRAHAM --- if it weren't for Prince, he would probably be a homeless
street musician by now and justifiably so.  God, how I hate his voice.

....Larry.....had his day....but when { plays HAIR, and RELEASE UR SELF, and Thankufallettinme.....
he kicks Larry's ASS!!!...
I do NOT say this because I am a "PRINCE FAN" or Friend or what ever u want to call those who appreciate and follow {'s music...I say this because in my opinon, it is simply so. Sure it's an opinion....but who would rather see Larry play GCS songs, instead of seeing { play GCS songs?
Through aside the fact that u like {'s music, and then listen to { play HAIR, than listen to the album version...or a live performance...any version done by Larry.....{ wins hands down...
Listen 2 a { bass solo....than listen 2 Larry play his, seemingly ONE AND ONLY solo...u know...that SAME one he playes EVERY show....
Larry is great...but { doesn't need him around.....

ROSIE GAINES --- I know a lot of people like her, but I cannot fathom her
appeal. Her voice is just bunch of irritating screeches overdubbed to already
crappy songs.  Listen to her "contributions" to the acapella version of 1999
The New Master.  Shitty as it is, it is made worse by her failed attempts at
singing.  Why Prince insists upon using her is beyond me.

Rosie.....well....I like her on The Jam Of The Year.....and on Nothing Compares 2 U...but her "CON"tributions on THE NEW MASTER(bation of the Prince ego) are really more comparable to agrivating tape hiss on a 4th generation cassette, than a musical addition 2 the song....

JERKY K --- a definite no talent. He must be secretly holding Prince hostage or
something.

MICHAEL B. need I say more..... WHY FIRE MICHAEL B.......???? and replace him with Kirk....
Now (if the word is true) that Michael is back, WHY keep Kirk on AT ALL? He's SHIT...
His loops sound weak....his live drumming is nothing 2 speak about...I saw on some bootleg add, that there is some show that was great..."including great jams such as: Kirky J's Drum Intro!!!...." etc etc....Great Jam my ASS!....  Kirk is drumming, is comparable to a mold that has grown over ur favorite cheezecake.... The Cake still tastes good....but that MOLD, and it's putrid taste is in the way of the enjoyment....just like kirks drumming and {'s music...Kirk be in the way.... Why was kirk a Dancer in the early 90's?
CUZ THAT'S ALL HE'S GOULD FOR...and { can Dance himself.....so there IS NO use 4 KAJ.....other than to be laughed at as a REALLY bad mistake in {'s career...much like TONY M, DOUG E FREASH, SCRAP D, and that Reggea dude on Chaos and Disorder...(Scrubba Ranks?).......icky....I can't listen to ALOT of the { album cuz TONY ruins it....same as ALOT of Diamonds and Pearls...... MrHappy....didn't need that idiot on the end....."THE RAPPER'S PROBLEM, US'LY STEMS FROM BEING TONE DEF"...

-mE

Still the way his career and musical business directions are going, maybe they
all deserve each other...

HA HA HA.....begining to think the same thing...but If my NEWPOWERPAK arrives b4 2000 it'll be an improvement on the Crystal Ball shit....I was charged twice, and received ONE... they DID repay though..but still...that's crap

Well, I wouldn't go that far, maybe a FUNK LEGEND(remember me type of tour)
Tour or something, but not homeless.

She is a great vocalist and I will fight that to the bitter end. But the
songs she has appeared on lately REALLY suck(except that Deep In The House
thing)
Ppl hate her cause she scats a lot and she has been doing a bit too much of
that lately. But I REALLY love her voice, she is a great vocalist in her own
right and should be up there with Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, and Ella,
Billy Holiday. :) I think.

OK, now I agree with you. Play your own instruments O)+> or have Michael
Bland play them but dont' let Kirky J just program a drum machine...it
sucks!!!

Why does Prince allow so many no-talents and semi-talents to hand around and
mooch off his popularity and fame (what there is of it)? I cannot understand
why he would fire people like Wendy, Lisa, Matt Fink and others while retaining
the likes of:

LARRY GRAHAM --- if it weren't for Prince, he would probably be a homeless
street musician by now and justifiably so. God, how I hate his voice.

No. He wouldn't. Like him or not, Graham is one of funk's pioneers. A
forefather of some of Prince's career musical excursions. Graham quite simply
is a legend.

Do U have her confused with Patti Labelle? Rosie has one of the strongest
voices I have ever heard. Strong and Soulful.

Haven't heard it...but I am sorry buddy, I have 2 disagree with you that she
isn't talented...she has a very pure voice...not crackly, and she isn't a
screamer...she is probably his best "associate".

Agreed...he sucks

His CD has gotten some great reviews...even from the people on this list who
can't stand him.

I saw the PBS program but missed seeing him on it. I didn't even know he was on
there. Sorry to say, I missed the HBO thing too.

if he would actually play some real drums, like he finally did on LG's album,
then he may make some friends....

LOL...the only bass solo Prince ever plays is the DOW, SIMPLE ass

it's worth noting that Larry was wearing the sailor outfit on the PBS special as
well as on the Sinbad special. :)

Larry Graham is one bad MF on the bass guitar. A definate influence on Princes
playing.
IMHO I've never heard a version of 'Hair' that was better than the one released
by GCS in 74'. As a matter of fact I'm listening to the tampa 98 aftershow
with Larry right now playin Thank You ( Falletinme Be Mice Elf Agin) and its
kickin much ass.

Rosie has a great voice, but I have never heard anything original-sounding from
her, either in the studio or (especially) live, when she sometimes comes across
like a mere sampled voice or like the singers they hire to re-do classics when
they're used in commercials.

the artist has always had the reputation of helping others. it's his way of
giving back. I think it's wrong to judge someone else's talent. Larry g. is
the man in his own right. the artist tries to help he takes these folks as
far as he can then the rest is up to them. just because their not in the
limelight anymore doesn't mean they don't have talent.lm
