Always? I don't think so.
*Prince has always had a problem with album arrangements.

Yes... what a piece of shit. Prince saved all of his best recent
material for "GCS2000."

Just my opinion. Ever since I became a fan (1984), I've been waiting for him to
put out the perfect album. Hasn't happened yet. Don't ask me to describe it. I
won't know it till I hear it. I think many of us are fans not simply because of
what he's done, but because of what he can or what it is we want him to do. If
0+> senses this, it might explain his messiach complex. He's sitting there like
the Lubuvich (sp) Grand Rebbi, while his followers wait for his great
statement.
Forgive me if it seems I'm rambling about nothing. It's what I do best.
>I still won't get GoldNigga 'cuz of Tony M. and the title really sucks.
I agree 100% with the title comment. I will not seek the release due to the
title alone.

Oh yeah, and so was Parade.

Newpowersoul is better than The Gold Experience??!!!?...dude, that's your
opinion but it's also the dumbest one I ever heard...I don't care who U R, if U
like NPS more than The Gold Experience, U gotta lay off tha crack...
basically, what U just said is that Michael B is a shitty drummer compared to
Kirky J...
"The One"? better than "Shhh"? yeah right!
well, yeah. Parade comes real close. It Takes a Nation... definitely. I would
add Bowies Diamond Dogs, Sinatra and Basies It Might As Well Be Swing, and
ABC's Lexicon of Love, to name a few.
I've never liked an album or song based simply on drum playing. Michael B.
plays better than Prince programs, but nothing on Gold is a match for anything
on Controversy (except maybe Dolphin). There are a few good songs on Gold, but
listening to that CD is not a very enjoyable experiance on the whole.
I think it's way over produced for starters.
I don't really think it was better, but it was a different kind of
funk. I mean you had Soony & Mike's contributions to the project.
> I still won't get GoldNigga 'cuz of Tony M. and the title

I guess this means you're black and the term "nigga" offends you? As
far as Tony, he sounds as good as any rapper Prince has ever used to me.

Again, 3 totally "different" records that i don't think can be
compared to one another in any way.
>but is of course better than crap
>like The Gold Experience and Chaos and Disorder.
See above reference record comparisons, but what do you mean "Crap"
when you mention TGE? That was w/o a doubt his best record released in the
90's. But...........to each his own.

See, for me, it's better to skip the crappy seques on Exodus than skip the
crappy songs on NPS

Cat Vutt sums the album up perfectly.
I am. Though I own quite a few Cd's in which the term is used liberally. Still,
I'm not gonna rush out and buy something called GoldNigga.
I'm not gonna front, I've used the word myself, in lighter moments, but I am
uncomfortable with how casual the usage has become. Part of it I'm sure, comes
from being in my 30's. I'm also a little tired of the cussing on hip hop
records. That shit is gettin' old. I'm thinking of getting the edited Method
Man CD from my local Walgreens. The bleeps probably compliment his sound more
than some of his lyrics.
>As
>far as Tony, he sounds as good as any rapper Prince has ever used to me.
I don't hate the guy (he does a pretty good Big Daddy Kane impersonation), but
a whole record with him on lead? Uh, Uh. No, thank you.

I do agree it makes more sense to compare NPG records to other NPG records
rather than 0+> , but I went ahead and did it anyway. I believe though, that
you can compare apples and oranges, at least based on your personal reactions
to each. I prefer oranges, apples get my saliva glands all worked up.
>what do you mean "Crap"

Crap might be too strong a word for anything not called Graffitti Bridge. There
are a few good songs here but the work as a whole isn't very interesting. In my
opinion, his weakest album of the decade, next to Chaos (Graffiti Bridge was
1990, but I believe that technically, '90 is the last year of the last decade,
just as the new millenium won't actually start 'till 2001, not 2000 as many
believe. Go ahead and party anyway. New Years Eve is New Years Eve no matter
what year it is.)
Later.

Not a bad song if you think crossing Bobby Brown with the P-Funk Horns is a
good idea. Horns were nice, though. Speaking of songs that sound like Mr. Brown
(Houston?), I'm certainly thankful that Acknowledge Me was left off the disk.
