Thought it was OK. As an album it's an improvement over Exodus, which was
crippled by segues. Mind you, the music on Exodus was for the most part better.
(not a contradiction- album constuction requires a bit more than a collection
of good songs.*) I still won't get GoldNigga 'cuz of Tony M. and the title
really sucks. Compared to O>)+ projects (which I normally don't, even though he
makes no effort to hide himself on NPS unlike earlier satelite projects), NPS
is not as good as Emancipation or The Truth, but is of course better than crap
like The Gold Experience and Chaos and Disorder.

Just my opinion. Ever since I became a fan (1984), I've been waiting for him to
put out the perfect album. Hasn't happened yet. Don't ask me to describe it. I
won't know it till I hear it. I think many of us are fans not simply because of
what he's done, but because of what he can or what it is we want him to do. If
0+> senses this, it might explain his messiach complex. He's sitting there like
the Lubuvich (sp) Grand Rebbi, while his followers wait for his great
statement.
Forgive me if it seems I'm rambling about nothing. It's what I do best.

Everyone? Probably not. But I did. It's better than most of what I heard last

than most Prince albums since BATMAN. Sad but true. (But of the "single albums"
I like COME and THE TRUTH better.)

Bought it, bored stiff by it. It's not even really that BAD so much as it's
so, so dull. I played it maybe two, three times all the way through the week I
bought it and never really gave it another thought. The remixes of "Come On"
piqued my interest enough again to try and give it another couple listens, but
I find it hard to even pay attention to what's going in the songs when I'm
playing it. Very drab. I usually wander to another room or start doing
layouts in my head or take to pondering the wonders of cheese.

I beg to differ. A handful of albums come to mind that were "perfect" as in
song-by-song, the album was perfect in all respects. Innervisions, Clones Of
Dr. Funkenstein, There's A Riot Going On, and Nation Of Millions To Holf Us
Back are all "perfect" albums, in my humble opinion.

Oh yeah, and so was Parade.

Newpowersoul is better than The Gold Experience??!!!?...dude, that's your
opinion but it's also the dumbest one I ever heard...I don't care who U R, if U
like NPS more than The Gold Experience, U gotta lay off tha crack...

"The One"? better than "Shhh"? yeah right!

add Bowies Diamond Dogs, Sinatra and Basies It Might As Well Be Swing, and
ABC's Lexicon of Love, to name a few.

I've never liked an album or song based simply on drum playing. Michael B.
plays better than Prince programs, but nothing on Gold is a match for anything
on Controversy (except maybe Dolphin). There are a few good songs on Gold, but
listening to that CD is not a very enjoyable experiance on the whole.
I think it's way over produced for starters.

compared to one another in any way.

See above reference record comparisons, but what do you mean "Crap"

I am. Though I own quite a few Cd's in which the term is used liberally. Still,
I'm not gonna rush out and buy something called GoldNigga.
I'm not gonna front, I've used the word myself, in lighter moments, but I am
uncomfortable with how casual the usage has become. Part of it I'm sure, comes
from being in my 30's. I'm also a little tired of the cussing on hip hop
records. That shit is gettin' old. I'm thinking of getting the edited Method
Man CD from my local Walgreens. The bleeps probably compliment his sound more
than some of his lyrics.

>As
>far as Tony, he sounds as good as any rapper Prince has ever used to me.

I don't hate the guy (he does a pretty good Big Daddy Kane impersonation), but
a whole record with him on lead? Uh, Uh. No, thank you.

>> NPS

> Again, 3 totally "different" records that i don't think can be

I do agree it makes more sense to compare NPG records to other NPG records
rather than 0+> , but I went ahead and did it anyway. I believe though, that
you can compare apples and oranges, at least based on your personal reactions
to each. I prefer oranges, apples get my saliva glands all worked up.

>what do you mean "Crap"
>when you mention TGE?

Crap might be too strong a word for anything not called Graffitti Bridge. There
are a few good songs here but the work as a whole isn't very interesting. In my
opinion, his weakest album of the decade, next to Chaos (Graffiti Bridge was
1990, but I believe that technically, '90 is the last year of the last decade,
just as the new millenium won't actually start 'till 2001, not 2000 as many
believe. Go ahead and party anyway. New Years Eve is New Years Eve no matter
what year it is.)

Later.

good idea. Horns were nice, though. Speaking of songs that sound like Mr. Brown
