FUNKSTER'S PAL IS BUTT OF THIS JOKE

KING of Funk Rick James should have no trouble
recovering from the stroke he suffered this week - he's
had worse scares. Like a male pal groping him in
public.

Days before a burst blood vessel in his neck landed
James in L.A.'s Cedars Sinai Medical Center on
Tuesday, the Super Freak singer was in front of TV
court Judge Joe Brown to plead his case against
former pal Geronne J.T. Turner.

The 50-year-old funkster says Turner lost one of
James's favorite guitars, then reneged on an offer to
pay for it after James got mad at him for grabbing his
butt in a bar.

In an amusing exchange that airs next Monday, James
tells the judge: (Mr. Turner's) basically a homosexual.
I don't have a problem with that. But this particular
night he had a little too much to drink ... and I get a
hand on my butt for like 40 or 60 seconds.

Then, says James, there's another hand on my butt,
and I look around and it's J.T., and he says, "Rick, it's
an accident.' Now hello, a 40-second accident?
You're squeezing my butt ... I know he likes me but I
never thought it was sexual. I went off on him.

I wished I'd explained to him "Super Freak' was just a
song I wrote, says James. It made some money. It got
me famous. But it didn't really entitle ^anyone_ to
hands on my butt. There are no men's hands on my
butt. That's a no-no.

The singer admits that in telling Turner to knock it off,
I may have been a little loud and a little boisterous and
I embarrassed him, but after that the hands continued
on my butt.

After the incident, James claims, Turner's agreed-to
payments on the guitar stopped.

In his defense, Turner admits owing James the money,
but says the incident was taken out of context.

I'm sure Mr. James has had far more scandalous
episodes than a pat on the behind, Turner tells the
judge. (In fact, in 1994, James was sentenced to a
two-year stint in the slammer after he attacked two
women while high on cocaine.)

Breaking court protocol and walking over to his
former pal, Turner yells into James' face: You didn't
have to bring up my personal business.

That earns Turner an admonishment from the amused
judge, who cautions him, Mr. Turner, that's what he's
complaining about. You got too close the last time.

Turning to the issue at hand, Judge Brown finds for
James, who later shakes hands and hugs Turner
outside the courtroom.

If I was a homosexual, he'd be my wife, quips the
singer.

Who the hell is Judge Joe Brown? Why is there another Judge on TV when all we
need is Judy?

I bet Judge Judy's kids came home from school and just sat down and cried and
confessed everything they did that day! hehe (some major cuties too!)

As for Rick's appearance- sounds quite comical, wish it were on here.
