PRIMUS, STRING CHEESE INCIDENT, BUNNY WAILER
ONE WORLD ’99
Crested Butte, Colorado September 3-6, 1999
Primus will be joining Colorado favorites, String Cheese Incident and
Friends, Bunny Wailer(of Bob Marley and the Wailers), Leftover Salmon,
Spearhead, Galactic, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe featuring Fred Wesley(of
James Brown’s JB’s fame), Tom Tom Club, Parliament Funkadelic, Rebirth
Brass Band, Pato Banton, Boukman Eksperyans, and seven other big bands at
the One World Music Festival Labor Day weekend in Crested Butte,
Colorado. Mt. Crested Butte stands as the backdrop for this eclectic
gathering of musicians from many different genres of the musical
spectrum. A total of 18 bands will perform during the day at the base of
the ski resort, September 4,5,6 with the late night performances in
various clubs throughout the towns of Crested Butte, September 3,4,5,6.
The festival is dedicated to the environmental and cultural preservation,
and will feature a "Preservation Pavilion" in which 20 different non-
profit organizations will be given the opportunity to educate and enlist
the participants of the festival. The event is limited to 6,000 paid
tickets per day in order to protect the environment. There will be an
international food and craft bizarre within the sight of the stage.
Unique accommodations are available at the Festival, as the Crested Butte
Marriott is located backstage and the new Sheraton Hotel and numerous
condominiums are within a 3 minute walk from the festival site. The
campground is only a mile from the venue with a free shuttle service.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their mountain bikes to access the scenic
fat tire capital of Colorado. Kids under 12 are free(with an adult) and
can participate in our exciting Free Kid’s program on site.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 4th
STRING CHEESE INCIDENT: In a very special Crested Butte homecoming,
Colorado’s rising star comes home with their original jammin’ style that
takes their bluegrass roots to places no places no band has dared go
before. Look for some very special guests to join their celebration.
THE ORIGINAL "P"-PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC: Rock n’Roll Hall of Famer’s Fuzzy
Haskins, Grady Thomas, Calvin Simon and Ray Davis. These Godfather’s of
Funk stated it all, along with George Clinton.
KARL DENSON'S TINY UNIVERSE FEATURING FRED WESLEY-Karl Denson is one of
the funkiest, groovin' horn players in the universe. Joining his smokin'
band is the world reknown Fred Wesley of James Brown's JB's fame.
REBIRTH BRASS BAND: All horns, all funk, all New Orleans, all the time.
BLOQUE: Rock, South American style with some of Colorado’s finest
players.
JON FISHER: Telluride’s own homegrown singer/songwriter
DANIEL ROLLINGBEARS: traditional Native American opening ceremony.
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5TH
BUNNY WAILER AND THE SOLOMONIC REGGAESTRA: In the beginning there was Bob
Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer.
LEFTOVER SALMON: Psycho-slamgrass from Colorado’s favorite bluegrass
band.
GALACTIC: Twisted New Orleans funky jazz with a whole lotta soul, these
guys are blasting off throughout the galaxy.
BOUKMAN EKSPERYANS: Mesmerizing Haitian Voodoo Rhythms.
MAMADOU(but daddy don’t): From Congo to Cameroon, African music and dance
doesn’t get any better than this.
DON"T CALL ME DUDE; Crested Butte local favorites.
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 6th
PRIMUS: Alternative funk from the creators of the theme song to
Colorado’s popular cartoon TV series, South Park.
SPEARHEAD: Conscious hip hop and soul with a reggae riddim.
TOM TOM CLUB: Featuring Tina Weymouth and Chris Franz of the Talking
Heads fame. This band is a techno-pop originator.
ZUBA: Colorado’s own incredible funksters return home to One World once
again, after taking the country by storm.
KUNG PAO: Crested Butte’s own psychedelic rockers.
SPECIAL EVENTS:
ROGER STEFFENS’ VIDEO TRIBUTE TO BOB MARLEY, BUNNY WAILER AND PETER TOSH:
From the world’s foremost authority on reggae music and culture.(Friday
September 3 at 8 p.m. at the Center for the Performing Arts)
JUMP UP: A One World exclusive; an after show program for those that
can’t get enough. 4 clubs, 4 bands for $10 per night. Bands TBA at
Festival. (September 3-6, starting about 10:30 p.m.)

Early bird tickets at ONLY $70 FOR A THREE DAY PASS or $35 FOR A SINGLE
DAY, are available only until August 1st, or until the 2000 allocated are
