THE IMPALAS FROM MICHIGAN

Does anyone have some info on a Polish style Polka band called THE
IMPALAS?
They were from Hamtramck, Michigan.

I have them listed from Dearborn. I would have to go into the attic
archives to see what I could find, but I remember a female in the
band.

The Impalas did have an album, "Polish Festival" on the Usana label
and "The Impalas Do Their Thing" on the same label.

Maybe someone from Mich can provide more??

The Impalas were from the Dearborn, MI area with

Kenny Pytlak on Sax, Clarinet, Vocals
John Domek on Accordion
Ziggy Kopac - Drums
Jack Wolak - Trumpet & Vocals
and Chris (ex-wife) Wolak on Bass and Vocals.

They were a very popular band in the area in the 70's, 80's.

Jack and Chris later formed their own band named Chris, Jack & Music.
Chris occasionally performs with the group Chris and Music, still.
Jack Wolak was last seen playing horn with Big Daddy's La De Da's and has
performed with other Detroit area groups.

The band was one of a few hot bands in Detroit back then,

Many thanks for the info.

It was the band's label Usana Records which was located in Hamtramck,

They were from Dearborn. My grandfather was John Domek and he played the accordion.

Tom Kopeck played with the Impalas after John Domek retired.

During the 80's and 90's, along with Ken (Sax/Clarinet), Tom (accordian/trumpet), Ziggy Kopacz (drums) and Ken Kowalski (bass) played for many detroit area polka festivals and weddings.
