I am a big Police fan and when I hear Sting's vocals, I can hear a lot
of influence by Steel Pulse's vocalist Mike Kelsey(I think that's his
name). In fact those two are my favorite vocalist. Does anybody else
thing that there is a similiarity? This really hit me tonight when I
was listening to the song, "This beds too big without you" off the
Reggata de Blanc album.

Wishful thinking, I believe. The chronology is wrong - both groups were
developing at the same time. Perhaps Steel Pulse were slightly earlier, but
I don't think Nyah Luv and a single on Islane would have been enough to be
considered 'influential'. Personally I just think Sting has always strained
to make the vocal and his voice has adapted to allow him to maintain this -
my brother 'sings' in the same way. Possibly the same is true of Mr Hinds.
