I've noticed, I just don't really care.
Stefan looks fantastic either with or without hair, and I felt badly for him
when he started losing it.. it must have been hard to deal with. As for
Brian, I feel badly for him that he's losing more of it now, I know it can
play on a man's esteem, but he's been thinning for *years*, only teeny-bits
at a time, so genetics/life hasn't been too cruel to him so far. I felt much
worse for Stef, as his kinda happened very quickly (but it's all back now..
hmm... makes me wonder, but whatever the reason/prescription, he looks
fantastic as ever).

Hell, maybe it's a good thing... maybe this will weed-out the pubescent's
that only like Placebo for their "ultra cutsie" singer. They'll go away when
he's bald, and I will not mourn their loss for a millisecond.

*mental image of annik throwing major attitude, hands on hips and giving

sorry *ahem*
it can be caused by a number of reasons from male pattern baldness,
stress, drugs or repeated hair dying. My hair has thinned out quite a
bit since I started dying it once a month; luckily my hair was really
thick to begin with...Even though many men start losing their hair at a
young age (ie. before 30), I bet yah it's probably a mixture of stress &
hair dye in Brian's case ;)

But if you consider how much image is important to the band themselves, it
might to terrible things to them. We *do* want more Placebo albums, don't we?
And besides... Just try to imagine Brian with no hair... it's depressing.

Are you saying you honestly believe that if Brian lost his hair they'd stop
making music though? Do you think they put that much more emphasis on their
looks than they do thier music? I don't agree. They didn't have some major
band catastrophe when Stefan realised he was receeding, did they? It's
hair.. it's not like someone lost all of their fingers.

: And besides... Just try to imagine Brian with no hair... it's depressing.

I'd feel badly for him, yes, but I'd still respect him every bit as much..
it's just hair.
After all, they've probably got enough money.. the man can get some
extentions if it's such a big deal that it would put the band in crisis or
something.

I just wanted to say that I didn't mention it to be snotty or anything.. It was
just a topic I haven't seen mentioned yet and something I've definitely
noticed. And it is getting a lot worse now. Miranda's T in the Park pictures
almost drove me to tears. I wouldn't love him any different but his a pretty
person and I'm sure it's something he's upset about. If I were him, I would
just pull a Gary Numan and get plugs.

Yeah, I didn't think you were being "snotty" - just like I don't mean to be
snotty in my replies on the subject.. it's just that I honestly don't
(personally) think it's a big deal.. it just doesn't really affect me. I've
been a bit disappointed in hairstyles/colours of some rock stars that I
admire in the past, but I always got over it just because their musical
talents aren't affected.

: It was

: just a topic I haven't seen mentioned yet and something I've definitely

I haven't noticed it getting any worse.. maybe I'm just blind.

Yeah, it will be hard to deal with.. but only made worse by the fact that
he's admired so much for his looks in the first place. I only hope he's not
so devastated by the people that decide they aren't fans anymore just
because the icon isn't as pretty anymore, because those people weren't fans
in the first place then.. but no doubt that will still affect his esteem,
but hopefully Stef can help him out there as he's already been through
this.. The media is already being cruel (that jerk-off fuckwad guy from NME,
for one), but they're not real humans anyway... and I can even say that
having formerly been a journalist. ;)

: If I were him, I would

: just pull a Gary Numan and get plugs.

I think Stefan has already found that idea as well, which is completely
groovy.
That's another thing I noticed no one mentioned.. Stefan's hair miraculously
reappeared.. even filling in the receeded portions. ;) Just as long as
neither of them get too carried away with the idea of extentions/plugs and
end up looking like Cher or something <shudder>

Liar. Anyway, it's not *just* the drugs - my father's going bald, I've been
under a lot of stress, and I use a lot of dye and hair products. Damn me

how about, "bollocks sir, kiss my ass." me and my little brother were
discussing that cause he was listening to it while i was making lurrrve
to the camera, and we decided it was meant to be "buttocks, sir. kick
my ass." well... bj said it sounded more like buttocks than bollocks,

Speaking of hair loss (well at least we were at some point speaking of it) the
other day I was visiting with my grandmother when we happened to come upon a
program which showed a man having a hair transplant. It was horrid! There were
holes in his scalp every half an inch or so and it just looked simply awful. I
begged my grandmother to change it but she decided to torture me.
Bottom line: Never get plugs.. never join the hair club for men.. buy a purple
wig!

oh my god I saw that!!! It's was so disgusting (and I always watch all those
bloody gutty programs) they had like this mini pizza cutter with about 4
blades on it and were running it back and forth over his scalp! *ewww*!!!
and then shoving the plugs down in the slices.

*shudder*

as for Brian - I was watching when they did Teenage Angst on Hanging Out -
well the camera kind swoops over Brian's head and there is a full-on about 3
inch completely bald spot. I watched it in slow mo (yes I'm sad so what?
:P) and well it was really bad really bald I mean the lights were fully
glaring off his head. But really I think this is good cos that sorta means
its always been that bad so it's not a newer faster process yesh?
But if you've got that on vid check it out.

looks @ the subject...

speaking of hair, has anyone here tried the *red* chunking kit by
l'oreal? and if so, was the outcome good/long lasting/bright? It's in
the "good products" list in the agf faq, but only one person reviewed
it...I reallllllly wanna dye my hair "malaysian cherry" (natural
instincts) and then play around with the chunking kit. It is cheaper
and easier than going out, buying bleach, travelling by bus for 45
minutes to pick up some punky colors...blah blah....

It's a horrible kit! The bleach sucks and the colour turns a deep flaming
orange colour. Total shite. Every person I know who's tried it has had the
same outcome. You'd be better off getting bleach and dye separate.

>It's in the "good products" list in the agf faq, but only one person reviewed

That's funny because there was a few posts not that long ago that also said
they had bad outcomes.

Isn't it lovely? That was the colour I did after I was sick of my
severly faded fire-engine red hair. Unfourtunatly I haven't been able
to find it at Superstore...hopefully shopper's drug mart or safeway will
still have that colour in stock *crosses fingers* I was very impressed
by that colour, it faded a little quicker than the other reds I've been
using, but it was still good.

Fudge Paintbox hair colour? Do poeple have that overseas? Okay, can anyone
help me? I used some blue stuff not so long ago, over the top of some
semi-permanent black dye, and all the blue washed out straight away. I want
blue-black hair (like, black hair, with blue streaks ala Seth in Austin
Powers 2), but my hair's not naturally black, so I need to dye it first. If
I dye it with permanent black, will the blue stay in over the top of *that*?

Surely if you dye your hair black, then dye it blue, you'll get black hair?
Cos...cos...the blue won't lighten the black, will it? And what I heard
about
black dye, nothing'll lift it anyway unless you stick your head in a bowl of
domestos [1] Erm...the only way I can think around this is dye yer hair
black,
then bleach to hell the streaks [2] and stick the blue on. And the blue will
probably come out in two washes leaving you with skanky greenish yellow
bits that you'll dye black again anyway. I want black hair, but I think I'm
too
pale *sniff* I have red hair at the moment, and i have to start washing it
like crazy before I go back to school otherwise the shit will be very deep
indeed...

Get thee to a beauty supply store, buy some bleach, some blue
fudge/special fx/punky colors & a streaking cap. yer gonna hafta bleach
the streaks damned near white, which may involve using a white toner (or
old lady purple shampoo). once yer streaks are as close to white as
possible, put the blue on and let sit for a long time. it should come
out purdy damned vibrant.

I just talked with one of my hairdresser friends, and she's gonna get me
some fudge & salon bleach, yay :)

sheepboy..

last time i put blue over black it just made the black really shiny..
(permanent)..but the blue was hardly noticeable.....
do you want permanent?...semi?...
i put loreal feria through my hair..blue black and it went fairly
blueish black..which was ok...but it faded a strange colour....
so i'd recommend permanent....mix permanent hair dyes.....dont put them
one on top of the other...after you put one hair dye in your hair it
usually makes it glassy if you put conditioner in it afterwards..then
dyes dont hold in hair....
yes....so mix dyes....
and for really effective..peroxide first if its not light....dark
coloured hair sometimes shows through black./..(blue black brown in the
sun)..

I want permanent black, and semi-permanent blue. My boss said that he

*grin* I was kinda freaked out about the whole bleaching thing too...But
since becoming a hair dye maniac 3 years ago, I've become quite
accustomed to it. So long as your hair is in good condition
before-hand, your hair will be fine...nothing that regular conditioning
or hot oil treatments can't fix.
BTW, is your hair dyed black right now? If so, bleaching won't do shit.
You must strip the colour, then if needed bleach & tone...Now that may
be a bit rougher on the hair, but like mentioned before, if it's in good
condition, it shall survive if pampered ;)

Well, it *was* dyed semi-permanent, but it's pretty much all washed out by
now. Pretty much, although it hasn't returned to its original colour, even
tho it should have about fifteen washes ago...

I think EVERYTHING fades, actually. Except this frigging red dye
that I need to have off my head by wednesday or I'll get kicked out
of school on the first day back...

I think it's oka to mix 'em if they're the same type of dye...*shrug* purple
and
two different types of red dye and my hair's okay (ish) [1]

>But I'm too *scared* to bleach my hair!

Good boi *nods* bleaching means when you try and stick the colour over
the top it breaks off halfway and you end up with a fringe you didn't really
want. Then again, is your hair fine and curly? *shrug*

for multi-faceted color that wont fade by l'oreal. because youre worth it.
my friend uses feria, it works very nicely for her.

the only rule regarding hair color at my school is that youre head must be all
one color. so, theoretically, i could die it blue and be fine, but that time
in seventh grade when i put *one* red streak in the front, our principal nearly
murdered me.

and i really want to get the three streaks in my hair like zillah has in "lost

I had two red streaks once, and got murdered. Our rule says your
hair must be as conservative as possible, especially if you have
naturally red hair, otherwise you'll just draw attention to yourself,
so we'd like you to wear it in plaits as much as possible, miss ford,
and take those glittery hairclips out RIGHT NOW please. Ever
wanted to go up to your headmistress, say "Fuck you" and just
walk off? I may do at the end of this school year.

you should do that. i have this asshole principal who weighs like 600 lbs. he
stepped on my hand once, i cried. he's such a buttmunch, he'll stop me in the
hallway and recoil in mock revulsion if my shirt is untucked or i dont have it
buttoned up enough. hes almost as bad as my french teacher. if she sees
anybody flirting or kissing in the hallway, she runs up to them screaming, "ne

Pshtwha? One stud in each ear? God, I have three in one and four in
the other. And I'd die without jewellery. We're allowed a discreet cross
or similar symbol of religion. Although I haven't had the nerve to try
wearing my pentagram necklace yet, they let me wear me little flower
choker thing... We're allowed discreet makeup to remove blemishes,
which is why I cover my eyes in silver eyeliner and wear the odd bit of
silver lippie. But hairdye is a no-no. I mean, god, we look like scruffs

Alright... *puts on her thinking cap* There is a blue/black dye that
Hydrience makes (I think Hydrience is Clairol?) I used that once. Very
nice dye, but the blue isn't *seriously* noticeable... Sally is right,
you ain't gonna get nothing to show up over black. The only way I was
able to get the black -out- of my hair was to strip it thrice, and then
I was left with that totally yuchhy copper orange, and it was all in
patches. If you want black/blue, go with the Hydrience color (unless
someone here knows better), if you want Black with blue peices (that
sounds really nice. Black and blue look peachy together), I guess I
recommend doing the black first, but wrapping the peices you want blue
with foil or cellophane (how long is you hair, Sheepy? Is this a
possibility?) and afterwards bleaching (carefully) those spots and doing
the blue (not so carefully, because, as expressed, blue aint gonna show
up over black anyway. :)) ehhhh...you're gonna need someone to help you
with this. hehe.... goood luck.

I find, with my hair at least, semi-perm never washes out and perm
washes out and fades very quickly *shrug*
Anyhow, you should be alright with bleaching then, but you'll prob.
hafta bleach twice...the first time, the black will be stripped leaving
a orangy-brassy colour, then a second time to bring it to a near white.

I've been wanting to go black-purple for years, but I'm afraid I'd look
