just saw operaman on an SNL rerun. he was singing to the music of
evenflow. something like "operaman is a big fan of pearl jam-o", then
a bunch of gibberish (spoofing eddie), then "i wish he didn't have a
girlfriend-o", then a joke about operaman being ambiguously gay.

Oh man, I LOVED that. I thought it was hysterical. He'd do the
gibberish to the tune of Even Flow, then end with "Eddie Vedder's even
better looking in person" and "I'm not saying I'm gay I'm just saying
there comes a time in every man's life when he questions his own
sexuality." I'm not a big Adam Sandler fan, but I always loved
Operaman. :)

Is it sad that I remember that right off the top of my head? I think
it probably is...

... i always loved opera man ... hell i still do whenever i see it on
comedy central reruns...

the only thing better, imo, was the rock and roll burnout character he
had (what was his name??). i remember one where he's talking about the
concerts he saw that summer and one of them is "soundgarden. had front
row tickets but did not attend. my mother threw them out... she
thought they were drugs." i don't know why but i always liked that
skit...

How could you NOT like Happy Gilmore?? Maybe it's not the most
intellectually stimulating movie but damn... it always cheers me up...

... just the part when Happy decks Bob Barker ... :)

Well, I remember the whole thing too, so we can both be sad
together. :) That was a hilarious bit, wasn't it? I think there was
another time when Opera Man did a similar bit, singing about how "Ten"
was doing well in the charts or something, but I don't remember that
one so well other than the picture of Ed they showed along with it!

I have a video of PJ's rehearsals for that appearance on SNL, and it
also contains the different takes of the commercials for the episode
that Ed did with Adam Sandler as Opera Man and host Emilio Estevez.
Emilio Estevez came across like a stuck-up creep, but Adam was joking

around with Ed and they both seemed to be having a good time. I've
never liked any of Adam Sandler's movies but he seemed like an okay guy
judging from those few moments.

gil graham. one time after the bit, norm says "adam sandler
everybody...", then tries to recover with "no, gil graham... without
the wig & zeppelin shirt he's a ringer for sandler". i wasn't so into
that character, i preferred david spade's stints as rock'n'roll
correspondent. their was a great skit where he was talking about bands
with one huge song. he'd say something like "went to see van morrison,
didn't play brown eyed girl: PURE BALLS." also things like "any band
that still includes a bass solo in the set: PURE BALLS." anyway...

Ack, my old girlfriend made me watch that movie with her. . .she had
horrible taste in movies! Although that part with Bob Barker was
funny. :)

yeah, gil graham with the zeppelin t-shirt --- hilarious. sandler's got a
new movie coming out before long called Little Nicky where he plays the son
of the devil which is clearly a take off of gil graham. same voice at
least.
