Did anyone else get these:
Our Lady Peace - Happiness Is Not A Fish You Can Catch
Bush - The Science Of Things
Dr. Dre 2001

Not saying they were "the best of 1999," just curious

For '99's best I liked
Foo's - There Is Nothing Left To Lose
Creed - Human Clay
Chris Cornell - Euphoria Morning. I was waiting for that album since the
"Sunshower" track came out!

Uh... no. Rage's third album got played really quickly, but their first two
albums (particularly the second) are masterpieces.

As for '99... I think I only bought Rage and the Foos. Foo's album is great.
Rage was pretty good.

3) - STP- 4
4) - Creed - Human Clay

Nah... you're right. That album got played way too quickly. I can't even get
past the seventh song now. I just gotta turn it off.

That's only with the guitar solos, though. The ryhthm section is much
stronger on the third album. I've come full circle with it. When I first got
it, I thought it was mediocre. Great bass/drum bi-play, but I was really
disappointed with both the lyrics and the guitar. Then I was able to find a
lot of artistic merit in those. Now, I find them to be lackluster at best.
Some of it is getting old hat.

Damn, I guess thats all the cd's from this year I've kept. I sold the
new RHCP & Creed so that leaves those four. There are a couple discs
from last year that I still need to get though.

And what cause is that? RATM are the most hypocritical band making
music today, their beliefs contradict themselves, and they get their
dogma from a disgruntled faux 'revolutionary' by the name of Zack de
la Rocha...the biggest tragedy in that group in Tom Morello...a smart
guy like him playing music with a message like that...it's a shame...

As for my favorite albums, I know I'm gonna forget some, but here
goes...
1) The Roots - The Roots Come Alive
2) Counting Crows - This Desert Life
3) Chris Cornell - Euphoria Morning
4) Jimmie's Chicken Shack - Bring Your Own Stereo
5) Midtown - Save The World, Lose The Girl
6) Filter - Title Of Record
7) Ben Harper - Burn To Shine
8) Foo Fighters - There's Nothing Left To Lose
9) The Get Up Kids - Something To Write Home About
10) RHCP - Californication

I must say Im not exactly into the whole political cause thing. politics bore me.
but at least Zack realizes inequities such as child labour, lack of freedom of
speech, corruption in the highest political ranks, etc exist and he writes songs
about it. its like Trent Reznor writing songs about how fucked up he is you know.
everyone's got their own cause.

I am really interested in reading some examples of how RATM is THE most
hypocritical band in the country. Are their concert tshirts made by sweatshop
workers? No. In my case, at the Palace show they played in Detroit, they
found out the arena wouldn't let them charge less than a certain amount for
their shirts. They wanted the shirts to be less (i think they charged $15) but
the arena staff wouldn't comply. I won't get into their political views, such
as Mexico, the past WTO happenings, the FOP and Mumia, and of course the
sweatshop thing. Please enlighten us to what we have all so ignorantly missed.

Are you fucking kidding me? Tell me you're joking, because that has to be one
of the most ignorant statements I have ever read on this ng. Jesus Christ,
what are they supposed to do, sell their albums by word of mouth. Are they
sell outs for letting their songs be played on the radio. Grow up. Appearing
on such programs as TRL helps them spread their message to an entirely new
group of people who may not have heard it before. They took the opportunity to
use their time in a constructive way, talking about the issues they are
passionate about, not about telling those teeny bobbers to go out and buy their
album. The people in the studio that day were Rage fans. It was probably the
smallest venue they had ever played for their fans. Big fucking sellouts.
Fucking shit man, grow up.

It's some people's opinions that N'Street Boys and Backsynch are musicians.
Some people's opinions count for shit.

That's the common rule of the newsgroup lately. If I don't like it, it
"sucks!" and I'm too narrow minded to even say why I think that.

Tony, just remember that it's not everyone in the newsgroup. I don't care

if someone (not saying you did, but you're defending it) writes a post
specifically to tell someone that a band they like sucks, that is going out of
thier way... or, even if it's NOT going out of thier way (which it is), it's
still being an asshole. There's no need for it. There's no reason to tell
someone that a band they like sucks, as if it were a fact. That's just a shitty
thing to do.

Posting to a newsgroup is hardly "going out of your way". It would be an asshole
thing to find out where this guy lives, knock on his door, and hand out pamphlets
detailing the nature of Oasis' talent (or lack thereof). Now THAT is going out of
your way to tell someone that a band sucks. Posting onto a newsgroup is
effortless. And blues02 is correct...what's the big deal about saying that a band
sucks...especially when they DO suck, as is the case with Oasis.

Whoa there, son. I didn't start the whole Oasis sucks bit....I couldn't give two shits
about what people listen to. If you've read any of my other posts involving people's
gripes about music, my general stance is "It's there, people like it, deal with it." I
got involved when you said that a person's an asshole for entertaining his right to an
opinion about a band, and said that people "go out of their way" to express their hate
for a band. That's ludicrous.

And if you think I'm an asshole for THAT....well then kid, grab me some Puffs and a
beautiful nurse, 'cause I need a good rub down.

Just remember that there is always someone who is a fan of that band. Think
about the times you hear people say that PJ suck, it's fucking annoying and
totally unjustified right? Well that's how fans of other bands feel. We

Hey! Then we've got something in common, because I'm not an alcoholic either. Yippee, join
the club, kind sir.

fucking druck cock?? For shame!!! Please refrain from such language around the ears and eyes
of the innocent! And for the love of god, man, learn how to spell, you make yourself look
drunk (unless "druck" is the way they've been spelling it lately, and I've been messing up my
whole life).

Just curious...how do you know it was for six 'solid' hours? I mean
many ,many times I personally may have posts that spread out for
hours, but that doesnt mean that I sat in front of the screen for all
those hours without budging.
Most of the time I read a few,post a few...go about my business.Come
back in... read a few more,post a few more...go about my day..come
back..etc....

I don't defend drunk drivers...unless you're takling about me saying
that I dont think my brother should have been charged with involuntary
manslaughter.WTF?
I believe that that accident my brother was in would have happened even
if my brother didn't have 4-five beers (he was slightly over the legal
limit).I believe the girl would be alive today if she wouldn't have
refused to wear her seatbelt.
My brother learned a lesson the hard way.He learned that NObody wil be
allowed to ride with him unless seatbelted in and he learned to not even
drive after drinking one beer.
Where in the fuck have i defended drunk driving? PLEASE TELL ME!
...AND I think child molesters are waaaaay more fucked up people than
people that drink and drive.Although I realize it kills ( it took my
fiance ) and I certainly dont advocate drinking and driving.
To compare me thinking my brother shouldnt have been 'souly'
responsible doesn't even compare with you 'suggesting' for someone to
molest the 6 year old neighbor.
One day when/if you have children,or one day when you have compassion
for the subject, maybe you'll see that child molestation is nothing to
joke about.Again I ask...where did I 'defend' drinking and driving?

drunk drivers are just as fucked up as molesters. i can be going about my
business and BAM!! i'm dead because some asswipe chose to drive under the
influence. they have no right putting other peoples lives at risk.

joe...i have a major problem with people who drive while intoxicated. i
understand that with some, it might be a one time incident - just very poor
judgment on their part, and they learn from the destruction they've caused.
people fuck up. but what i'm referring to are habitual offenders...those who
feel that their getting to point B from point A, while drunk, is more
important than my life and the life of my loved ones.

as far as i'm concerned, they're a loaded gun...and to be honest, people like
that scare me to death.

but on the same level as a child molester? A drunk driver makes a poor choice
while under the heavy influence of a seriously impairing drug... a child molester
maliciously destroys people's lives so they can get off... I dunno...
