TOUR T-SHIRTS!!!!
Laurie Hester
1. We are going with kelly green Fruit of the Loom heavy cotton shirts.
2. The front will have a logo (if someone will design it within a
week... I am unable to find the original design from last time). Any
artists out there?
3. The back will have lyrics (either one we vote on, or individual ones
if I can find a quote for a decent price)
4. They will be done by the Australian tour, and I will bring them to
the shows if I don't have time to mail.
5. You must pre-pay by January 1. If you want to vote on the design,
you must pay by Dec 20.
6. We need a minimum of 50 shirts ordered. They will be $15 for one or
$25 for two. Since all profits will be donated to charity, many people
have sent more than the required amount, and this is appreciated.
7. If you haven't already ordered, send me your name, address, size, #
of shirts, charity vote, and anything you can do to help (mailing,
artwork, etc)

Also, I'm voting for the "Fuck me if I say something you don't want to hear"
lyric.

The latter three get stronger votes from me because I don't like the idea of
having profanity on the shirt.
I think that the following lyrics on the shirts would preclude me from
actually buying one:

upbeat/corny for Riot Act)

(attacking greed is pretty stale as a political tool, I think)

you're not screwed in the end.
But here's my issue ... the first AMPJ shirt doesn't sit well with me. The
baby blue color (horrifying, who the fuck had that idea?!?!), the logo, even
some of the stuff on the back just made me think "Wow, lame." So I'm
concerned about locking myself in to a shirt that I've never seen.
And I think that's a smart choice (considering I'm really broke ... not just
cheap). I liked the Enron take yesterday, but I looked at it again just now
and realized that I'm not a fan. I feel that it's very possible (especially
since there's a lot of people here voting who have, to put it politely, not
so hot taste -- or, to put it unpolitely, have an embarassingly egregious
sense of style) that I'll end up opening up my little package and having the
same sense of naseau that I had when I looked at the first AMPJ shirt.

I've got to chime in with Rai a little bit here.
Generally, I don't so much care about the color of the shirt or the logo,
and to an extent I don't care what ends up on the back. However, I do have
to say that I'm going to be a little disappointed if the shirt ends up
saying "fuck" on it. Now, I don't have a problem with "fuck." I think
"fuck" is a superb word. But the people around me and my boyfriend, the
receipient of the other shirt I ordered, aren't so into it. And I don't
want to pay $25 for something that I can't wear without considering who I
may or may not see that day.
Some people just don't like the word "fuck," and I try to respect that. And
it's easy enough for me not to *say* it, but when I'm wearing it, that's a
different story.
So I don't want to put in some kind of "contractual provisions," but the
only reason I haven't immediately paypal-ed my money to Laurie is because
I'm trying to get a feel for whether this shirt is going to say "fuck" or
not.
Holly, sorry to be un-fun, but I want to be able to wear my shirt in public,
where I may see professors, employers, family friends, etc.

*cries* i'm the TOTAL opposite of this; i honestly think a shirt saying

But the whole idea is based on having a way to identify one another at
concerts. I know we now have pictures, but it's sometimes hard to pick
out faces in a crowd. The t-shirts make it easy. But I hear ya.

design the first time we did it, and only about 100 people ended up
paying for the shirt. I see no reason why those buying the shirts
should have to abide by the opinions of those not buying, which is why
the no vote unless you pay rule.

Actually, you aren't the *total* opposite. I could think of a million
things I'd rather have on the shirt than either Kcuf or fuck, but if the
numbers came down to "fuck," I'd have to vote for "kcuf" so I could wear the
shirt more than once every two years or so.
Did that make sense? I think it did. Either way, I want the tailpipe
party, dammit.

want the "no way" quote. and btw...who was it that designed the logo - hate
to be a bitch, but i don't like it. (note: i don't like the *logo*, not the
actual work that you've done on it). how about the mobil logo, or even a
mcdonalds thing? there's plenty of logos and fonts for corporatations
floating around out there. i'd personally love to try, but my photoshop
skillz are not so l33t. :/

Ok ... that sweetens the deal a little more. However, I think I would feel
a little guilty backing out of the deal just because I didn't agree with the
shirt. Because, ultimately, you're right that the premise of owning the
AMPJ shirt is based on community ... and I can't really shirk the fact that
I'm part of a community that has bad taste. ;)
I don't know, it's a conundrum that I'm certain I'll solve within the next
couple hours.

$25 for two. Since all profits will be donated to charity, many people
have sent more than the required amount, and this is appreciated.

artwork, etc)

This makes me think about a Iggy Pop T-shirt i have. It says 'fuck' in
big bold letters on the back. There is a version of that shirt without
the 'fuck'. That looks like censorship to me.

I love that shirt. The color is perfect for hot summer days and
everytime I see those quotes, it makes me giggle :)
