1. We are going with kelly green Fruit of the Loom heavy cotton shirts.
2. The front will have a logo (if someone will design it within a
week... I am unable to find the original design from last time). Any
artists out there?
3. The back will have lyrics (either one we vote on, or individual ones
if I can find a quote for a decent price)
4. They will be done by the Australian tour, and I will bring them to
the shows if I don't have time to mail.
5. You must pre-pay by January 1. If you want to vote on the design,
you must pay by Dec 20.
6. We need a minimum of 50 shirts ordered. They will be $15 for one or
$25 for two. Since all profits will be donated to charity, many people
have sent more than the required amount, and this is appreciated.
7. If you haven't already ordered, send me your name, address, size, #
of shirts, charity vote, and anything you can do to help (mailing,
artwork, etc)

Best idea yet. I like.
Also, I'm voting for the "Fuck me if I say something you don't want to hear"
lyric.
"Sometimes I burn like a dot on the sun" is good too (without the "with no
one listening" part added)
Or "You can't keep me hear," which I think is a really good message.
Or "All the rusted signs we ignore throughout our lives" (without the
"choosing the shiny ones instead" part)
The latter three get stronger votes from me because I don't like the idea of
having profanity on the shirt.
I think that the following lyrics on the shirts would preclude me from
actually buying one:
"Drilling for fear makes the job simple" (lame)
"No matter how cold the winter, there's a springtime ahead" (too
upbeat/corny for Riot Act)
"Life existed long before greed, balancing the world on its knees"
(attacking greed is pretty stale as a political tool, I think)
"Love is deep, dig it out, standing in a hole alone" (upbeat and
lovey-dovey)
"The TV she talks to me, breaking news and building walls, selling me what I
don't need, never knew soap made you taller" (obtuse, and verbose)
"It doesn't hurt when I bleed, but my memories they eat me. I've heard it
all before so bring it on, I'm no victim" (similarly obtuse)
--
Rai
"I never end my messages with a damn quote."
> Or "You can't keep me hear,"
Errr ... "You can't keep me HERE"
And on further analysis, I really think that's a *great* lyric to put on the
shirts. It really does sum up a lot about Pearl Jam, PJ fan-dom, and life
in general. It's very kinetic, and I like that.
Front: "I'm feelin' cocky and strong....."
back: "Fuck me if I say something you don't wanna hear from me......"
AND: http://jdrago.netfirms.com/images/logo1j.jpg
I'll work on it more tomorrow.........
-=john=-
And I'd definitely vote for "Kcuf" over "fuck." I don't have a problem with
profanity, but some other people do, and I try to respect that to an extent.
And besides, Kcuf is just clever.

Someone (Carl?) or was it you, suggested having just a simple logo on

I'm for being profane, too (the old shirts had "premature ejaculation"
on them)... however, I find that I wear my old ampj t-shirts quite
often, and if I do the same with the new one, it might be a slight bit

Hey Laurie, can we get a vote per shirt?
(Heh, then someone can "stuff the ballot box" by buying 40 shirts, but if
it's all for charity, then the shirts can say "My balls itch" on the back,
and I wouldn't care.)
If so, then I could put in TWO votes for "tailpipe" and I'd feel my
disillusionment from all past elections magically melt away. :)

When the inmates in here decide on a logo and quote, I would be happy to buy

I understand why you want to do this ... to lock in buyers and make sure
you're not screwed in the end.
But here's my issue ... the first AMPJ shirt doesn't sit well with me. The
baby blue color (horrifying, who the fuck had that idea?!?!), the logo, even
some of the stuff on the back just made me think "Wow, lame." So I'm
concerned about locking myself in to a shirt that I've never seen.
And I think that's a smart choice (considering I'm really broke ... not just
cheap). I liked the Enron take yesterday, but I looked at it again just now
and realized that I'm not a fan. I feel that it's very possible (especially
since there's a lot of people here voting who have, to put it politely, not
so hot taste -- or, to put it unpolitely, have an embarassingly egregious
sense of style) that I'll end up opening up my little package and having the
same sense of naseau that I had when I looked at the first AMPJ shirt.

I have to say kelly green wouldn't be my first choice either.
Lisa
> But here's my issue ... the first AMPJ shirt doesn't sit well with me.
The
I've got to chime in with Rai a little bit here.
Generally, I don't so much care about the color of the shirt or the logo,
and to an extent I don't care what ends up on the back. However, I do have
to say that I'm going to be a little disappointed if the shirt ends up
saying "fuck" on it. Now, I don't have a problem with "fuck." I think
"fuck" is a superb word. But the people around me and my boyfriend, the
receipient of the other shirt I ordered, aren't so into it. And I don't
want to pay $25 for something that I can't wear without considering who I
may or may not see that day.
Some people just don't like the word "fuck," and I try to respect that. And
it's easy enough for me not to *say* it, but when I'm wearing it, that's a
different story.
So I don't want to put in some kind of "contractual provisions," but the
only reason I haven't immediately paypal-ed my money to Laurie is because
I'm trying to get a feel for whether this shirt is going to say "fuck" or
not.
Holly, sorry to be un-fun, but I want to be able to wear my shirt in public,
where I may see professors, employers, family friends, etc.

*cries* i'm the TOTAL opposite of this; i honestly think a shirt saying
"Kcuf" would just be lame. not that i want "fuck" just for the hell of it
(i'd rather have the line from no way), but if it came to that, i'd be
pretty damn pissed about "Kcuf". oh well, i guess that's what voting's for.

What's Kelly green as compared to a forest green or an olive green?
If the quote voting wasn't solidified before, I don't think the color should
be either.
I -do- think that we need to have a quote and a color by the end of this
week though, so as not to drag the whole thing on ad nauseaum.
The logo should be done by tomorrow evening, I'm out to see The Two Towers
here an hour so.

But the whole idea is based on having a way to identify one another at
concerts. I know we now have pictures, but it's sometimes hard to pick
out faces in a crowd. The t-shirts make it easy. But I hear ya.

Sure, but I thought we had all agreed on green previously...
> *cries* i'm the TOTAL opposite of this; i honestly think a shirt saying

Actually, you aren't the *total* opposite. I could think of a million
things I'd rather have on the shirt than either Kcuf or fuck, but if the
numbers came down to "fuck," I'd have to vote for "kcuf" so I could wear the
shirt more than once every two years or so.
Did that make sense? I think it did. Either way, I want the tailpipe
party, dammit.
Holly
:)
well, confused me. but that doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. anyway, i
want the "no way" quote. and btw...who was it that designed the logo - hate
to be a bitch, but i don't like it. (note: i don't like the *logo*, not the
actual work that you've done on it). how about the mobil logo, or even a
mcdonalds thing? there's plenty of logos and fonts for corporatations
floating around out there. i'd personally love to try, but my photoshop
skillz are not so l33t. :/
If we get to choose, I definitely nominate forest green over kelly.

oh, ok. maybe it was and i missed it. again, i know it's enough of a pain to
organize the logo and quote so if color has already been decided, so be it.

Yes, that was my point as well. I tell you what, if that lyric gets
chosen, let's deal with it then. The place I'm looking at doesn't
charge extra for making up the screens, but there are minimums. Maybe
we can do something like have half the people with fuck and half with
kcuf.

Ok ... that sweetens the deal a little more. However, I think I would feel
a little guilty backing out of the deal just because I didn't agree with the
shirt. Because, ultimately, you're right that the premise of owning the
AMPJ shirt is based on community ... and I can't really shirk the fact that
I'm part of a community that has bad taste. ;)
I don't know, it's a conundrum that I'm certain I'll solve within the next
couple hours.
> i think 'im not leaving here' is a more fitting save you quote for a

Dude, that's a *great* quote.
And here's the problem ... I proposed that one, but I don't think anyone
likes it. The quotes in the lead right now don't sit well with me and I
don't know that I want the shirt if my election forecasts predict that it's
going to say something I don't like.
> Sure, but I thought we had all agreed on green previously...
Really??
Maybe a deep hunter green. Not kelly green ... that's bad.
I'd prefer black. Or grey. Those are two colors on a t-shirt that are
really difficult to fuck up.
