I am posting this in AMPJ because this group tends to be a lot
friendlyer then alt.music.weezer. Well tonight I attended my first
Weezer concert, and it was awesome. They played a great show; I got to
hear virtually every song I wanted. The set list included Jonas, Buddy
Holly, Sweater Song, El Scorcho, Good Life, In Dreams, and many more
classics, as well as about 4 new songs from their CD due out in May.This
show was part of the Yahoo Outloud tour which was really cool because
after the show they handed out free posters, guitar picks, etc. I can't
wait to see Weezer again and definitely recommend going to see them
live.

Nick

No kidding. I posted in alt.music.weezer that I wanted tix to the
show last night, and that I didn't want to pay more than double face
value. Which I thought was more than reasonable. However, I got
flamed for it. That left a bad taste in my mouth, so I won't be
checking that newsgroup anymore.

AMW are a bunch of whores...i go there to piss people off from time to
time...if there's ever gonna be a newsgroup invasion (i've heard people
wanna invade a creed group or a rush group) we need to start invading
AMW...kyle and I are already planting seeds of deconstruction ;)

bhu...@accesscomnospam.com (Brian F. Huber) did proclaim:

*****************************************************
This ng tends to be a *lot* more friendly than a *lot* of other ngs.
You get spoiled...you go elsewhere and people either flame you or they
completely ignore you. Or if the they acknowledge you, they only do
so in the most oblique way possible, a way which requires a
highly-skilled cryptanalyst's assurance that yes, indeed, they are
"happy" you threw in your two cents' worth.

I supposedly belong this other group's mailing list, but the few times
I've tried to say anything, it's always, *always* like sending a
message to my dead Aunt Tillie. I NEVER get a direct reply or
acknowledgement that yes, a living, breathing person not intimately
associated with the toe jam of the lead guitarist exists. With my
Aunt Tillie, at least I could hold out some hope of going to a seance
and contacting her; but, with these other people, I'm not sure what it
would take. Bribes? Certified toe jam? I'm at a loss. :)))

Viva ampj, the friendliest, most info-sharing group of people I've
personally come across on usenet--excepting some "alternative"
religious groups who, I must admit, are quite friendly so long as you
pledge a sacrificial goat and/or a large amount of cash. >;)

No kidding, well at least they still tour. Five years is quite a long time.

well Tool was having a pretty largescale battle with their record company...and
Tool's hiatus wasn't SO bad...they still toured in 97 and 98 (might have done
some dates in 99 as well), and APC came out of the downtime

as for weezer, there was downtime, but after their second album the
guys split up, a few went on to finish school and basically they just
went their seperate Ways, then there were the rentals, which are
great, and I definately recommend them, on the second rentals album
Rivers and Matt worked together on some songs and decided that they
might want to revive weezer. Well, they did, and now they are
back....

and if the way these shows sold out and the way the tickets were
selling on ebay is anything, i think their fans will want then to
stick around.

they're always going to have a big cult following, but i don't know if
they'll be able to fill 6,000-seat theatres and arenas every two or
three years. maybe if they changed up their setlist every so often they
would be a more attractive live act...

they're only headlining part of warped tour, even though it hasn't been
announced yet...they're playing in england on july 4th which is smack
dab in the middle of warped so my guess is that they'll commute often
and hit the cities they didn't w/the =w=/get up kids/ozma tour.
