I don't think he really *tries* to sound like Ed. The "Eddie voice"
has basically become the vocal sound of the nineties - most bands
sound like that, but I don't really think they're all that aware of it
(I even heard a local band with a *female* vocalist do the Ed thing!).
Or has it occurred to anyone that maybe the guy just really does sing
like that?! What, he's supposed to give up his career 'cause his
natural singing voice sounds similar to Eddie Vedder's? I don't think
that sounds very right...

P.S. A few exceptions to the "Eddie voice" trend are Robbi Robb,
Chris Cornell, J.R. Richards (except when he yells - then he does
sorta sound like Ed), Layne Staley, Johnny Rzeznik, Billy Corgan, and
just about any female vocalist.
Well, I agree and disagree. I don't think it should be considered a
rip-off, Yes the tune is so very similar and I am glad that I have been
redeemed (my friends disagree with our hearing capabilities). I personally
enjoy the song, and if you actually listen to the rest of the album, that
is it when it comes to the similarities. But One more thing. I think that
the Nixons and "Sister" are a complement to Pearl Jam and there Influence.
I'll tell you what. Eddie Vedder's voice sounds like mine too actually, and
yes I may play a few tunes too, and I'll also admit that maybe they have
influenced some of my personal writing, but I don't go out and copy them,
and I certainly wouldn't want too. But if I were gonna put out an album, I
certainly would include a thanks to all of them, even if I have never
really known them personally. Actually, that is what we all are going to do
if we ever do make a success of our selves, is thank the guys at Pearl Jam
and U2, Tom Cochhrane, and Billy Joel for sharing there art and sweat. I
don't think the Nixons should be criticized for sounding similar, and of
all the people who have that right, only Mr. Vedder, Mr. Gossard, and Mr.
Ament are allowed to do such....

Seriously, have you guys ever wondered why Mike gets forgotten? I
mean, even *I* do it - I'll be sitting there naming off PJ members to
some friend, get to fucking *Jack* and go, "Wait a sec, I forgot
someone... Oh yeah, Mike!" Why is this? I remember Jack, yet forget
dear little Mikey...?! Is it because he just sorta fades into the
background (well, not when he's doin' a riff... ;)) and he never talks
much? Am I the only one that does this (apparently not)?! I don't
get it...
