Yeah, I second the 1964 date. The Rolling (piece of shit) Stone mag said he
was born in 1964. Also, I was reading an article between him and Jeanneane
Garafallo <sp>, and she says her brother is 33 and Eddie says "me too". His
birthday is in Dec.

I heard from a friend that Eddie Vedder grew up (until about 12 or 13) in my
hometown. Not sure if its true or just a rumor, but does anyone know where
Eddie lived until he was about 12? I think his name was Eddie Mueller (sp?) or
something like that until he changed it to Vedder. Since I'm the same age is
Eddie, I'm sure that people in my high school class were good friends with him
at some point.

Just so I'm not leading anyone to the answer, I'll just say I grew up in a
northern suburb of Chicago that borders the lake.

His stepfather and him never got along at all, so later on in life, he swore to

his mother's maiden name.

So, he grew up in Evanstown...His REAL name is Eddie Severson Jr., but he went by
Eddie Mueller-not knowing any better-in high school...and now he has assumed his
mother's maiden name of Vedder.

I'm not sure where he went to high school, but I know that he dropped out.

ANY QUESTIONS??

This Novel was done for you....Eddie...HaHA

I'm not writing a book, I have just done my research...

....i'm sure what you're searching for is evanston but that's not true...Ed is
from Saturn..he grew up skateboarding on the rings until one day he fell off
while he was skating drunk and landed here on earth..does that answer your

Well I guess it wasn't a rumor. I graduated from Evanston Township High School
in 1986.

If he was born in '66 he would have been in the class of '84. This would have
been the same graduating class as another famous Evanstonian, John Cusack.

I know that this is a million to one shot but anyone know what School(s) Eddie
went to in Evanston? Someone said that it was in Morton Grove, but that
wouldn't make sense if he lived in Evanston (they are close to each other, but
Evanston residents only go to Evanston schools).

Thanks!

I believe that he went to high school in California (until he dropped out).
There is an interesting couple of pages (or maybe a chapter, i'm not sure)
about this subject in Mick Wall's book _PEARL JAM_

So do you think that Sonic Youth is actually that old?? That would make them
almost as old as the Rolling Stones....a little younger but older than Jimmy
Page and Robert Plant......

the new RAYGUN magazine puts his age at 31...
To quote the article: "Thirty one year old Vedder makes a hell of a
frontman......"

Dertifrank mentioned...

I really know NOTHING about Sonic Youth...I'm just telling you what Eddie said
on Monkey Wrench radio. He did not SAY 1964 was his year of birth, just that
he was born when Sonic Youth's first album came out, and that their second
album came out in '65.

<<the new RAYGUN magazine puts his age at 31... To quote the article: "Thirty

Before I got online, I always thought Eddie was born in 1966...which would be
the Year of the Fire Horse. I posted some numerology stuff on the AOL board.
Then DigitalKat posted that Eddie was a Dragon--which would be 1964.

Then, in the interview with Janeane Garafolo, Eddie mentions he is the same age
as her brother...33

Eddie is a great artist...no matter what his age. I just thought
this was interesting.

Umm... his REAL name is Edward Jerome Vedder as he had it legally changed.
Check out the insert that came with the Tibet Freedom Concert...

His BIOLOGICAL name is (was) Edward Louis Severson III -- not junior. Take
a look at the lyrics to 'Alive' in the Ten insert. And check out the thank-you's

while your at it -- it thanks ELS the second.

And it's Evanston, not -town.

veracity by spending a little time at the Evanston library.
Before you begin your research, however, I do want to point out that
according to EV's mother, he was actually born in Edgewater, so who
knows if the Evanston story is completely true or not.
I think the Morton Grove/Skokie connection comes in later, when he came
back to the area and went to Oakton Community College.

In the city of Morton Grove's Centennial Yearbook. It states that in the early
70's Eddie Vedder, then known as Eddie Mueller, lived at an address in Morton
Grove(I forget the address, it's not important) and went to Golf School .

I hope that helps anyone who really cares

We had a post comparing people to the author of some" gold digger" book about
Pearl Jam

Let me make a point here. Eddie Vedder just may be the most talented and
successful musician of our time. And any person who does something for the
world to hear will always get some kind of backlash.

If someone, like me or the guy who originally posted a message about Eddie's
hometown, is interested in his "roots" and where his influences came from why
do people always get all upset with people who care about it?

Eddie Vedder, who I respect as an artist more than any other human being,
just happens to have grown up in my neighborhood. It doesn't mean you have to
care about that, but there is no reason for anyone to get disgusted because we
are interested in what are town has produced.

It doesn't give people the right to invade his privacy, like if we went to his
current residence to bother him. But I feel we have the right to look into his
past if it is for the correct reasons.

And we don't need some guy wrting a nasty post comparing us to some lady who
wrote a shitty book using sources that don't like Eddie.

So , all in all, there is a difference between people who actually care for the
right reasons and a lady that pretends to care for all the wrong reasons

Then ya don't sign a record contract with a huge label. And as for your
writing--it sucks. Your post proves you are not only immature, but you are not
very articulate, to boot. And when you awake from your fantasy, only to be
greeted by the cold, ruthless stare of the real world, you will understand
that doing what you enjoy is great; however, we live in a capitalist world,
and unless you have the money to allow for the purchase of your freedom, this
world can be a very nasty place.
I also suggest you reread my post. I was not referring to money being the
root of happiness. Someone had posted that he thought Ed wanted to play music
in a band, but did not want to be a rock star. If that were so, he would not
have signed with a major label. Thus, my analogy of winning the lottery, but
not paying taxes. If you are in a band signed to a major label, and you write
incredible music, you have to be prepared for what comes with that.

If you haven't read the book, you hardly have a right to declare that

....you've got to be fucken kiddin' me!...if everyone possesed your attitude
this world would be in a sorrier state than it already is...i did not say that
my dreams and ambitions are right for everyone...only for me..who the fuck are
you to try and tear me down for my own idealistic beliefs?..YOU are so damned
mature you had to resort to calling me names and saying that my writing sucks
and let's not forget how immature i am..i'm already aware of the nasty cold
world i live in and as far as you believing money will buy freedom..
GUESS AGAIN!..this world may be a capitalistic place but FOR ME and the way I
WANT to live..having a lot of money isn't that much of an issue..i'm not
living in a fantasy thank you very much..wanting to write and make music and
make enough money to keep some sort of roof over my head isn't an unreachable
fantasy..as a matter of fact..THERE ARE MILLIONS LIKE ME!..if someday people
gravitated towards what it is i do i would not be unhappy about it..perhaps
all the crap that goes along with being noticed on a large scale would be too
much for me at times but my true goal is to be able to reach others..to give
someone out there something to relate to or hold onto..to know that they're
not alone..people like you will always be around to bash me, critique me, make
fun of my idealistic nature, call me immature, and tell me i'm livin' in a
dream world..but my world is what i make of it and if i want to live a simple
life..i will..if i end up somewhere else..perhaps reaching people on a much
larger scale then so be it..as long as i follow my heart i'll be just fine....
one more thing..I didn't say anything about ed so SHUT THE FUCK UP!..he loves
what he does and he's good at it..he doesn't complain too much anymore about
his stardom..it's just the violation of privacy or people always wanting more
then he already gives that gets him down..and you don't see him squandering
money incessantly as if it's all that important to who he is..that man would
be happy living in a cave and has even said so.."FREEDOM" is different for
everyone..maybe for you..a nice big house..a nice car..and plenty of extra
dollars to spend at your whim is freedom..but for me..in my oh so humble
fantasy world..freedom is being able to make my own decisions and live with
the consequences..i choose to keep writing and making music because i don't
think i suck and others feel the same..i'm happy with my not so glamorous
exsistence..and if i can reach just one person in the way that people like ed
and ani have reached me..i'll be the happiest gal alive...by the way..did you
know that ani started her own label..going against everything you say rules
the world we live in and doing things her own idealistic way..and she built a
fucken empire.

I've been a silent observer of the behavior in this NG for some time and I
do believe there's some hidden agenda-filled angst buried above. Money and
this capitalist society get you where you need, and dare I say *want* to be,
but you don't have to stay there. I do believe the band, as a whole, are an
exemplary case in point to that. Happiness is in the eye of the beholder...

Not only is it obvious that you suffer from some sort of complex, but it has
become apparent that you cannot read either. And as for "all of us who bash
you," look in the goddamn mirror. Nice title to this thread :P

again, you didn't read the original post. She distorted the intent of an
earlier post, and then responded with this, which only solidifies my claim
of komikaze's immaturity.
