Yeah, I second the 1964 date. The Rolling (piece of shit) Stone mag said he
was born in 1964. Also, I was reading an article between him and Jeanneane
Garafallo <sp>, and she says her brother is 33 and Eddie says "me too". His
birthday is in Dec.
Just so I'm not leading anyone to the answer, I'll just say I grew up in a
northern suburb of Chicago that borders the lake.

Edward Louis Severson Junior was born in Evanstown on December 23, 1966. His
mother seperated from his biological father when Ed was still a baby, so he grew up
as Eddie Mueller, believing that his new stepfather's surname was his own also.
His stepfather and him never got along at all, so later on in life, he swore to
never speak to his stepfather again and assumed the last name of "Vedder," which is
his mother's maiden name.
So, he grew up in Evanstown...His REAL name is Eddie Severson Jr., but he went by
Eddie Mueller-not knowing any better-in high school...and now he has assumed his
mother's maiden name of Vedder.
I'm not sure where he went to high school, but I know that he dropped out.
ANY QUESTIONS??
This Novel was done for you....Eddie...HaHA
I'm not writing a book, I have just done my research...
Matt
I live very close to his hometown, and i am very sure it's called Evanston.

Yep...you're right...Evanston, and I knew that, I just mistyped. I stand corrected,
thanks!!
Matt
If he was born in '66 he would have been in the class of '84. This would have
been the same graduating class as another famous Evanstonian, John Cusack.
I know that this is a million to one shot but anyone know what School(s) Eddie
went to in Evanston? Someone said that it was in Morton Grove, but that
wouldn't make sense if he lived in Evanston (they are close to each other, but
Evanston residents only go to Evanston schools).
Thanks!

So do you think that Sonic Youth is actually that old?? That would make them
almost as old as the Rolling Stones....a little younger but older than Jimmy
Page and Robert Plant......
the new RAYGUN magazine puts his age at 31...
To quote the article: "Thirty one year old Vedder makes a hell of a
frontman......"
believe what you will
dF
I really know NOTHING about Sonic Youth...I'm just telling you what Eddie said
on Monkey Wrench radio. He did not SAY 1964 was his year of birth, just that
he was born when Sonic Youth's first album came out, and that their second
album came out in '65.
<<the new RAYGUN magazine puts his age at 31... To quote the article: "Thirty
one year old Vedder makes a hell of a frontman......">>
Before I got online, I always thought Eddie was born in 1966...which would be
the Year of the Fire Horse. I posted some numerology stuff on the AOL board.
Then DigitalKat posted that Eddie was a Dragon--which would be 1964.
Then, in the interview with Janeane Garafolo, Eddie mentions he is the same age
as her brother...33
Eddie is a great artist...no matter what his age. I just thought
this was interesting.
Mary
It's Evanston, and he's not Jr. It's Edward Louis Severson III. Sheesh.

Umm... his REAL name is Edward Jerome Vedder as he had it legally changed.
Check out the insert that came with the Tibet Freedom Concert...
His BIOLOGICAL name is (was) Edward Louis Severson III -- not junior. Take
a look at the lyrics to 'Alive' in the Ten insert. And check out the thank-you's
while your at it -- it thanks ELS the second.
And it's Evanston, not -town.

EV was born in 1964, not 1966. He left the Chicago area before he was
old enough to attend high school, but you are right he probably
attended grade school in Evanston as Eddie Mueller. I've often thought
someone in Evanston (where I used to live) could easily research EV's
veracity by spending a little time at the Evanston library.
Before you begin your research, however, I do want to point out that
according to EV's mother, he was actually born in Edgewater, so who
knows if the Evanston story is completely true or not.
I think the Morton Grove/Skokie connection comes in later, when he came
back to the area and went to Oakton Community College.

Let me make a point here. Eddie Vedder just may be the most talented and
successful musician of our time. And any person who does something for the
world to hear will always get some kind of backlash.
If someone, like me or the guy who originally posted a message about Eddie's
hometown, is interested in his "roots" and where his influences came from why
do people always get all upset with people who care about it?
Eddie Vedder, who I respect as an artist more than any other human being,
just happens to have grown up in my neighborhood. It doesn't mean you have to
care about that, but there is no reason for anyone to get disgusted because we
are interested in what are town has produced.
It doesn't give people the right to invade his privacy, like if we went to his
current residence to bother him. But I feel we have the right to look into his
past if it is for the correct reasons.
And we don't need some guy wrting a nasty post comparing us to some lady who
wrote a shitty book using sources that don't like Eddie.
So , all in all, there is a difference between people who actually care for the
right reasons and a lady that pretends to care for all the wrong reasons

If you haven't read the book, you hardly have a right to declare that
she wrote it for all the wrong reasons.

I've been a silent observer of the behavior in this NG for some time and I
do believe there's some hidden agenda-filled angst buried above. Money and
this capitalist society get you where you need, and dare I say *want* to be,
but you don't have to stay there. I do believe the band, as a whole, are an
exemplary case in point to that. Happiness is in the eye of the beholder...
