LOL! I know, I just think he's not such a hot songwriter, but he seemed
to be a good bloke when I met him. :-) Most of his songs share very
basic chord progression, like News of the World, the verse is simply
II-I-II-I again and again... ;-)

Several - Bruce got a song or two on some of the LPs (London Traffic and
Don't Tell Them You're Sane on 'This is the Modern World' and Smithers
Jones on 'Setting Sons' for instance).

'Paul Weller - My Ever Changing Moods' by John Reed (one of the writers
on Record Collector), published by Omnibus Press in 1996. I have a 1997
imprint and I think it's been issued again more recently. The isbn
number is 0-7119-6379-7 and it costs £9.99.
Not a bad book - a bit "by the numbers" in places, though it did have a
lot of semi-official input apparently.

It's easily the best book ever written about Weller. It's sad that
nobody's been able to do a definitive authorised biography about him but
then again, this isn't unique - Costello's another one who never seems
to let any writer close enough to do something authoritative.

Didn't Bruce sing on Innocent Man one of the B-sides of News of Thw World?
Also he sang and wrote Don't tell them you're sane on the Modern World LP.
To me it sounds like Bruce sings most (or at least half) of See Saw the
B-side of Eton Rifles. That was written by Weller I believe.

You're right, Weller's a bit shy about the biography stuff, but Paolo
Hewitt's "The Jam: A beat concerto" and the Video "Highlights & Hangups"
cover most of what we fans need to know.
