I've just bought a minidisc and am gonna try to record the concert and
upload it for u folks. Can anyone give me some tips on how to do it so the
sound will be ok - ie not just a load of crowd noise

Tell him he needs to keep the MIC shoulder heights really, and get as near
to the P.A. as possible. The furthest away, and you will hear crowd noise
more than music.
The best one I done was Radiohead at the NYNEX arena as I was standing right
next to the left column of speakers.
The only trouble really you'll have is if you get some wanker in front of
you talking or screaming all the way through the gig.
I know a bloke who does bootlegs and he gets 3 people recording the sound
for him standing in various locations and then he mixes the final result
together to get a stereo effect.
