Yes, I was there, and he was - as usual - amazing. I love it when he gets
annoyed on stage, and he had his usual problems during the acoutsic bit. The
best hump he threw was when Noel Gallagher came on for the encore of 'Gilded
Splinters'. If anyone was down the front and could see why, please tell me what
THAT was all about. It was something to do with a roadie who was a bit slow in
coming on with a replacement guitar, I think....Highlights: Changing Man, Heavy
Soul, Into Tomorrow, Wild Wood, people clapping vaguely in rhythm during
'Broken Stones'. But it was all great. Mind you, Finlay Quay was piss-poor. Ian
Durie was...just great to see him still doing it, and the Blockheads were
great: the intro to "Wake Up..." was note-perfect. Of the other bands, I want
to hear a bit more of Rialto.Bye!!!!!

I managed to secure a spot down the front, directly in front of
the man. The problem with "Gilded Splinters" was that Paul's amp had
blown earlier in the night, and that by now he was using the one lined
up for Noel. So when Noel came on, he didn't have an amp, and we
didn't hear his guitar, just his voice.

You are quite right about Finley Quaye. Ian Dury did a wonderful
job of warming up the crowd - well the one's at the front anyway -
then Quaye let it all fall flat again. If PW had followed Ian Dury,
then the atmosphere would have been even better.
