I think this group should officially be pronounced dead. Simon &
Garfunkel start a major tour and nobody is even talking about it?
Paul Simon has unveiled at least two new songs in the last year ("Love
In Hard Times" and "Amulet") and there's barely a ripple here. Maybe
everybody just moved over to Bodo's site - and I'm left here to sweep
up the debris and put the "CLOSED" sign on the window....

I guess it's just the decline of Usenet and the rise of the web-based
message board. Though I gotta say I always liked the sort of smallish
group going here. Also, I find the message board technology on Bodo's
site a little behind-the-times (though I commend his energy and
enthusiasm for serving up a gathering place for Paul's online fans).

I think you're right....a lot of people have moved across to either Bodo's
site or even to the PS message forum on the AG site. Some just seem to have
dissapeared into thin air.I find it quite sad as I was always very fond of
the small group of regulars who used to post here on a regular basis. The
group is however alive and well in the North-West of England. There are 3 of
us who meet up on a regular basis at a local folk club and travel up and
down the country together to attend various concerts plus there are several
people who correspond regularly via e-mail. I've made some good friends here
who will be around long after the closure of Usenet.

It´s a long time I don´t post here. But I come to this place
frequently. I agrre Nicolas: AMPS rocks.
I think today everybody can access to many ways to search Paul Simon
news on the web. I also think many people go to Bodo site.
But this place is timeless and the websites by fans sooner or they
fall apart, I mean even the best ones they depend on a guy, and
everybody life and circunstances and wishes and free time change as
years pass by, so all websites by fans dye (closure, no updates).
However this place will ever be. Some times more crowded, others less
crowded like right now happening.
Also Paul Simon (a mix of father-grandfather) is generating news only
in one line: homages, tributes, prizes...and stuff in this way. Very
little new work and when it comes it is in a work-in-progress
presentation and dropo by drop. Also his new songs are less attractive
for most fans and he has decided it is in this way in the next years.
His tours are really great live performances but a bit deja-vu. A tour
by S&G is of little interest, except for those super nostalgic people
or who coul not attend to their 2003-2004 tours.
So it is not strange this place is not frequented.
Anyway I think there is not a too great traffic on any PS website. He
is old, he is repetitive, he is doing things that are not attractive
for most people.
Maybe Harper Simon seems more interesting.
Anyway I will come to AMPS several times every week. Love this place
and the people hanging around here. And of course love PS work, the
new and the old one.

Wow! I never dreamed that Jose Maria would post again. Between this
thread and the one immediately above it, I'm actually starting to hope
that this thread will revive somehow. Now if only someone would say
"bite me" I'd feel like I'd finally come home again....

It's been probably five or six years since I've posted, but actually
check in from time to time. I just got a google account so I could
post, but now I see that they display my email address, so that's no
good.

So what's the story on these new songs? Is Paul writing an album?
And where is Nicolas's message board you speak of? How's everybody
doing?

Great to see you back here Willy. I had to post via google for a while,
didn't cause me any problems with displaying my e-mail address. I think you
mean Bodo's message board not Nicolas's.
