Is Pantera Fakes (were they glam back in the 80's)

Hi, I am a big fan of Pantera and someone told me that Pantera is faking
their real look and making music that was nothing like a long time ago.
He says that they were "cockrockers" or some shit...they had long hair
and wore lipstick. Does anyone know if this is true?

Yes it's true, they had two previous albums before "Cowboys". As far as
them being fakes, well they were fakes when they made those "glam"
albums.(Although I'm not sure which members were in the band at the
time?)
Anybody who has seen them live, and continue's to see them live will
agree with me. You can't fake what they can do on a stage.
Every now and then we see the error of our ways, as Pantera has.

They were definatly different, but they were young and hadn't developed
their own style yet. That (Power Metal) was 10 years ago, making Phil
only 19 and the others only a couple years older. In my opinion the
music resembles Van Halen or the Scorpions, but not the ultra glam's
like Poison and Warrant or something. And Phil's vocals were definatly
over the top, but again, I think he was emulating one of his hero's, Rob
Halford. On the earlier 3 records the music was much the same, but with
Terrence Lee on vocals who kind of sounds like the guy from the
Scorpions.

just to let you cats out there know, before PANTERA phil had a band
called RAZOR WHITE and yes they did where lipstick and have long hair.
they were completely a glam rock band amd yes phil was a glam pussy.

Hey about Pantera being glam in the past, at least they have grown since
then. Most bands let you down by starting off strong then changing what
made then so good and popular in the first place. Pantera is the
exception, that glammy stuff was fluff and now, well the proof is in the
new Live album, they keep getting better and better. No one knows how
much longer this will last but hey they proved they are here to stay and
lets hope for a new album which will kick more ass.

style? is that what you're saying? People would hate them if they
continue to be a glam in today's society? Pantera sucks anyway, and they
will always suck. I'm into metal and I've never liked their style
because it's a bit lame, as well as metallica. There's many other real
metal bands out there that makes pantera sound like they're running home
to their mamas.

I've got to agree with this. Pantera is one of those rare bands who
continues to put out music they (and their following) love, whatever the
current trends are. And they ARE a truly heavy, "real" metal band, with
very gifted musicians. A loyal following does not automatically make you "a
bit lame." Pantera hasn't sold out to anyone,so why don't you actually
listen to the records before you start passing judgement.
