Hi everyone.
I hope I don't annoy you with my little question...

I can't understand the words spoken at the beginning of the song
pretty fly ... can anyone tell me what they mean?

thanx

I'm not sure what it means, but they got it from Def Leppard's Pyromania
album. It's the same opening as 'Rock of Ages'

cool?

I wonder how stupid you are, living in a german speaking country and not
understanding that...

it goes like this: "Montag, lieben, lachen, loben", which is german and
translates to "Monday, love, laugh, praise".

Oh no no no no no no no no!!!!

How many times have we been through this on here. Right then.

1. It's a Def Leppard sample, as someone has said.

2. It is NOT, I repeat NOT German! Or any language for that matter.
Apparently, once someone in Def Leppard was bored with saying 1, 2, 3, 4 to
start a song, so they just made up some words. That's it.

Idiot. (Really, after all the shit you've written here, you had that
coming.)

The best I can determine, is that they are "Unter Glieben, glauten, globen."
To the best of my knowledge, they mean nothing. The opening is a sample
taken from Def Leppard, as someone else here has noted, and as it says on
the CD notes.

That's not "1,2,3,4" in German, maybe in another language but certainly not
in german.
"1,2,3,4" in German = ein, zwei, drei, vier. The beginning of PFFAWG doesn't
sound like that.

Shut up, ruca. My native language is german, yours is english, so who is
right?
I know what I'm hearing, they say what I wrote in my prev post.

> The best I can determine, is that they are "Unter Glieben, glauten, globen."

Hahaha. "glieben" is no word, "glauten" is no word, and "globen" is no
word. Look up in a dictionary if you don't believe me. So who's the
idiot here?

Can't help it, but it really sounds like the german words "Montag,
lieben, lachen, loben". It's not 100% clear, but one can definitely hear
it. Maybe the Def Lepard guy just took some random words out of a German
dictionary?

Idiot TWICE!! OF COURSE THEY'RE NOT WORDS! Jesus Christ, haven't you been
following ANY of this? It's just a bunch of nonsense! The fact that "Unter"
is a word at all is mere coincidence. "Glieben, glauben, and globen" Not
words! No shit!

What shit are you talking about?

Everyone seems to hear sth different, and what I wrote above is what I
hear. If it's not right I can accept that(unlike you). I can only say
that I hear those words. Nothing more or less.

I have just said it's not "1,2,3,4" in German, but I think too that it
sounds like German.

Right, having got dead bored of this whole thing, here is an extract from a
Def Leppard FAQ (shamelessly copied):

"WHAT IS SAID.....
---------------------...at the beginning of Rock Of
Ages---------------------
There are a lot of different stories here. Here are a few options:
- Gunter Glieben Glauchen Globen
-Gunter Gliechen Glauben Globen
- Unter Lieben Glauten Globen
The only true story is that it's Mutt Lange who says those words. It
seems that Mutt got tired of saying the same old 'One, two, three,
four' at the start of the song, and that he started to say meaningless
words instead of counting.
There are a couple of other stories floating around, which are all NOT true:
It's Rick Allen talking some gibberish. Not true. True is, that he
does say it sometimes when the band plays the song live.
Some people claim that those words are some strange language, and that
it means 'Running through the forest silently'.
Also, the words could be German. 'Glauben' means 'believing', 'unter'
means 'under' and 'lieben' means 'loving'. The other words could also
mean something German, but I don't have a clue...
Finally (this one is funny), the story goes that the words are from
the Swedish cook of the Muppet Show!"

OK, so time for me and all the other regs to eat humble pie: "It could be
German"
Ahem. Sorry. Conclusion: it's either gibberish or German, and we'll never
know for sure until someone from Def Leppard gets on here and tells us!

This is the Led Zepplin drummer counting them out after a song, a section
for which they paid $5000.

Erm Someone told me that the beginning of the track is like a little sample
played backwards.
