I haven't heard the song, but I would have to imagine that "Boneheads
Bank Holiday" is poking fun at Blur's "Bank Holiday". Is this the case
or what is the case?

Not being a Blur fan I had not realised they had a song called "Bank
Holiday" but I reckoned straight away it was ripping the piss out of
Blur because at the end they do stupid high-pitched
"La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-laaaaa-laaa-laa" bits quite like Blur
themselves.

There's lots of those coincidences - a Blur song called Fade Away & an Oasis
song called Fade Away. I'm sure there's more but I can't think of 'em right
now.

Could be, but could just be a coincedence like the two bands both
having a song called "Fade Away." I've never lived there, but I guess
Bank Holiday is big in England, it's like July 4th (Independence Day)
here. So it wouldn't be surprising that the topic should be repeated.

If I presumed wrong, let me know.

I think it's coincidence (not that I listen to Blur or anything...)
Oh and bank holiday isn't anything like the Fourth of July or anything,
it just happens to ba a day when the bank closes and everything else is
closed.

hmm...another note on coincidences.....you think that damon albarn was
a bit snide when he sings in country house "now he's got morning
glory, life's a different story, everything's going jackanory"??
makes you want to wonder...especially since that whole thing about the
albums being released on the same day..or was it single? ikeep losing
track of these things...

Except we all have a day off school, it always rains and everyone goes to the

they released Roll With It and Country House on the same day.. Roll With
It went to #2 and Country House to #1, whic actually doesn't bother me too
much.. CH is about the only Blur song I more than tolerate.

And morning glory is a cocaine hangover, so it's possible they really
meant it as "morning glory" and not as "cheap shot at Oasis" :)

In America, we haven't had a Bank Holiday in sixty years, but the term is
a common expression for taking the day off or whatever. Judgeing by the
la la las at the end, I'd say they're mocking Blur, but I haven't heard
many Blur songs so I can't be sure.

...I think you're wrong.

Doesn't Bonehead go off to Spain in "Bonehead's Bank Holiday"?
To me the song is about young, loutish holidays abroad (i.e. sun, sea,
sand, sangria, and sex) whereas Blurs "Bank Holiday" is more about
the tedium of British bank holidays, where people might have some
drinks but do little else.

Who cares about Bank Holidays? We don't have them in Australia and that is
all that matters, I have to say. Now where has my little doggy gone?
