Very very good point. Marylin manson is an attention craving psycho who should
be run over with a tractor trailor and left for dead in the middle of the road.

As for telling people I like Oasis...It's hard, just cos 4 out 5 times I
know I'm going to get into an argument about them. It shouldn't have to like
that...The most common thing I've heard from the people over here in the
U.S. is "I don't like them cuz of what they say about America". Of course
then, I have defend Oasis trying to tell these people that in terms of
music, Oasis are top. "Okay...so you don't like what they have to say about
the States...what does that have anything to with their music?" Their answer
to this "......."
Music over here is so bad right now anyway...It's turned from unlistenable
pop music, to unbearable rap. And it's all the same shit. (At least in my
opinion.) Oasis could never make it big here, not at least the way bands
were thought to "make it big" in the states, simply cos music's changed so
much. I guess I just have to be thankful for the 1 out of 5 chance that I
meet someone who likes Oasis for what their about -- the music.

The thing I get the most is "they are drunk bastards and because
of that their music is crap" which i am sure refers to liam spitting out some
beer at the VMA 1996 on MTV, and Liam not being in the Unplugged show. Thats
the only thing that I can think of.
If you get someone that says this point out all the good things
the guys do: 1. Donating money to aids and drugs research 2. Donating money
during the ice storm in Canada and upstate New York 3. Playing to 250,000
people in Knebworth 4. Selling more than 20 million albums worldwide (i think
don't quote me on that)
Then if they start on the Beatles thing and the video for All
Around The World tell them if anything it is the Smashing Pumpkins video,
Tonight Tonight, NOT Yellow Submarine. It's the same directors, Jonathan Dayton
and Valerie Ferris. IF that doesnt do it bring in one of your singles for them
to listen to a b-side like the masterplan. And finally; NEVER, NEVER go into a
fight alone, always make sure that you have someone to rely on that also likes
Oasis.
If you follow those steps you are guaranteed to win a fight with
any anti-oasis person. Even if you don't convert them it will shut them up
about it and I guarantee they will leave you alone. Don't assume that you are
the only Oasis fan in your school. I don't know how many people name WTS MG? as
their fav album in the past 5 years.

The reason people don't like Oasis in America, unfortunately is because
TV stations like MTV and radio stations tell people what to like and
what not to like. MTV seems to favor rap. I know MTV doesn't Like
Oasis because Oasis has said some bad things about MTV. Back in 1994
Liam got into an altercation with an MTV interviewer told him that
Oasis wouldn't be big in the US. Kurt Loder the Voice of MTV bad
mouthes them every chance they get. The only VJ who supports them is
Matt Pinnifield and he knows more about music in the world than any
other MTV VJ.

Don't forget Carson and *please* don't forget the luverly Toby Ames (who was
the person Noel was telling the "everyone does cocaine..." thing to) :) What
ever happened to him, BTW?

I've not had any trouble like that before. But then, I live down here in the
South, and 9 times out of 10 the person asking me who I like is a country
listerner and has absolutely no idea who Oasis is or have heard of the
Gallaghers' antics. So in a way I'm lucky. As for the 1% around here who know
who Oasis are, they usually end up liking the band's music as well.

Yeah I get that a lot.. The music industry is destoyed over here.. It's all
manufactured crap.. You can't even buy singles anymore.. All you can purchase
are imports.. Which cost about as much as a CD.. We have singles but they're
all geared towards Rap & R&B markets..

eMpTy shows no music at all during the day.. it's usually Real World Marathons,
or Clay animation.. They're even airing Beavis & Butthead again.. VH1 is
better, but they've done so well with documentaries-Behind the Music, that's
all that's on anymore.. That or some shite about fashion..

Oasis just don't fit in the Americna market.. This is the same for any Rock
band over here..Most kids are into the darker- Deftones, Korn, or Marilyn
Manson..

Kurt Loder is an old skull face, and He should retire, I´m pretty sure that he
uses lipstick every once in awhile...

God I hate it here...music in USA is awful, I cant believe that bands like MB20
or some other boring and nonsayable college radio band would ever make big
anywhere else, than in US! "Oh! we go in our lyrics so in deep in our
emotions..."oh, shut up, you all suck!!

It's virtually the same deal in Australia too. It's hard for me to tell
people I like Oasis because alot of Aussies don't like Liam's attitude. They
start slagging me off for liking Oasis as much as I do.

Bullshit. By far the most common slap at Oasis is in reference to their
Beatlistic plagarism.

Their answer was what again? Did their answers so thoroughly destroy
your misguided notions that you're too embarrassed to print them
here?

Why don't you turn off the fucking radio and go find the good music
yourself, because it is most certainly there. If you want pop-rock,
listen to Pavement. If you want rockabilly, listen to the Reverend
Horton Heat. If you want surf absurdity, listen to Man or Astroman.
If you want darkly twangerous guitar virtousity, listen to Lazyboy.
If you want funky rap, listen to the Beastie Boys. All of 'em are
fine Americans, old boy. Don't be such a snivelling sellout. The
Brits will smell that a mile away and rip you to pieces for it anyway.

If this lame posturing helps you to get laid at a party in Manchester,
more power to you.

reading all the posts of US i've realized that here in México people tend to
like oasis more because here in my country they're catalogued as a rock group
(imagine how pop is pop here), and almost no one knows all the Gallagher
adventures outside the studio which seem to be funny to me because i don't
give a lot of attention to them, as long as they make excellent music

Egad. You grumbly ex-patriots-to-be make it sound like Oasis
is some widdle tiny unknown band from England. What are you tryin'
to do, marginalize yourselves by pretending you're among the
few Yanks who are hip to the scintillatingly new British phenoms?
Sorry old boy, but Oasis is well known in America. Who in America
adores Oasis for their attitudes? Most New Yorkers I know think
they're a bunch of tossers.

That's the thing. They ARE a bunch of tossers! But the music is good! And at
the end of the day, that's what it all comes down to.
