According to this newsgroup, the Mike Flowers Pops is a retro-style
novelty act by a BBC dj, which makes sense - the colors were too vivid
for a 1960's vid. According to Polygram Records, which distributes
London records in the USA, that song is a cut-out from the 60's, long
out of print and available only at used record stores. Is the rep at PGD
just a complete idiot? Noel is credited with writing all the songs. What
I'm getting at - is there a US release or is it uploaded onto the net
somewhere? Does London Records UK have a website besides the PGD one? I
checked IUMA and UBL and Yahoo - nothing. Why hasn't WHFS picked up
on it? And why doesn't MTV play it more - do they think that we 120
viewers are the only ones who'll appreciate it? Or are they afraid
they'll fool the core MTV audience - you know - AOLers too young to
drink and drive? Questions, Questions.
I know most of you think he(Flowers) is a tosser, but I want a copy of
it for prosperity, to file next to my Black Velvet Flag CD. You'd think
MTV would embrace it more, considering those promos they did a year or
two ago with that lounge guy singing "Jeremy" and "Sex-Type Thing"
Probably waitning for the OK from the Label, or a domestic release or
something like that. You'd thing PGD would be all over it - considering
Oasis is a Sony act...

He's right.
I just wonder at some people!
Surely the Mike Flowers Pops cover of Wonderwall has been a
much-discussed subject here since before Christmas - or was I just
imagining all those posts?
While on the subject of Mike Flowers, I've got a mailshot from
The Cambridge Junction in front of me - here's how they describe
his Pops....
"Their cover of Oasis's Wonderwall catapulted them from obscurity to
chart-topping wig-wearing fame. And they've a few more classics
waiting to be given the Flower's treatment - including a swinging
full-on version of the theme from The Avengers. As Mike himself
says: "The object of it all os mutual acceptance and pleasure'.
Are you up for it?"
Dunno if I am.... Oh, but if anybody wants to know... it's Monday
12 February, tickets are 8.50 a throw, and the Junction can be
emailed - ju...@cityscape.co.uk, or phoned on 01223 412600.

See, that would be too original (please note the sarcasm). The only
songs from England that HFS plays are oasis songs (which is a good thing)
and a few new wave songs on the flashback cafe. I do have to admit that
i have heard the Mike FLowers Pops a couple of times. it's an
interesting version, i wonder how oasis feels about it?
by the way (if i can get tickets, i'm going to go to the d.c. show in march
