I've always understood it to be, "We'll have lasaaaaaaagnaaaaaa," and the
same for the second blank. Of course, my ears could be playing tricks on me,
as they're prone to do.

He's right but that's not quite how I spell it...

Having never really fancied a large pile of minced shite of an evening I
can't really comment, but I reckon Lasagne's tops.

Anyway Digsy plays in a band called Smaller who sometimes support Oasis,
they were rehearsing in Machester a couple of years ago and Digsy
ad-libbed (sp?) a song and changed to lyrics to what he'd had for dinner
that evening. Noel thought it was pretty funny so wrote Digsy's Diner
about it. Crap song though.

On the album it's spelled "Digsy's Diner". Why wasn't a dictionary
consulted? No matter though, it's an excellent song.

Your's must be an American imprint with amended spelling.

Yes, I've discovered - on my actual tape, it's spelled "Dinner", but on the
case cover part, it's actually spelled "Diner". All this confusion over a
misprint. I don't know how many of these ones there are. I got mine in
Canada.

If you look at a lot of the lyrics, they are
spelt wrongly, this is because Noel is dyslexic
and it gives it a more individual style than to
correct them all. It would be like losing a little
part of the song, silly I know.

Ok let me clear this up for you once and for all. A DINER is like a
cafe'. pronounces dy-na. Not Dinner. If some of you have Dinner then
THAT is the misprint.

The referance to Lasagna is symbolic.

Lasagna is made up of layers of pasta, mince, and cheese. All the
layers are symbolising SEX!!

So, put it all together, and Digsy's diNer {dy-na} are about asking a
girl round to their house for a fuck. Sounds more Gallagheristic doesn't
it??

It's spelt Dinner on the english version and Diner on the american
version. Presumably Yank's don't know what dinner is.

It is definitely Dinner. Coz when I was talking to Noel, he bollocked

He said only the Americans call it diner.

It would, except Liam introduces it live as Digsy's DinNer, the tape itself
(as opposed to the label) says DinNer, and from all accounts, the tune is
about some friend of the band named Digsy who told them a story one
day about a recent dinner where he'd eaten lasagna. So the one "n" version
is seemingly the misprint.

Bollocks ! OK, here it is, the explanation, are you all listening?
(lets end this NOW). Digsy was a mate of Noels when they were kids.
Digsy invited Noel over to his house for DINNER and asked him if he
liked lasagne,to which Noel replied "One day I'm gonna write a song
about what you said", thus Digsy's dinner was born. The words in the
verse were changed from 'dinner' to 'tea', after all, what ryhmes with
'dinner'?

I hate to argue but the song is, in fact supposed to be 'Digsy's
dinner', have you never heard Liam announcing it on stage? I fail to
see where this confusion started!

By the way, 'diner' pronounced 'dy-na'? what happened to the 'r' on
the end then? it's 'dye-ner', for fuck's sake!

What was so difficult about that? You only had to ask!
