LIAM'S A THUG BUT HE LOVES MY
BOY
Kerr's thumbs up for Oasis star

SCOTTISH rock star Jim Kerr last night praised
Oasis wild man Liam Gallagher - for his gentle
side.
He had just listened to the new Oasis album,
which includes a track dedicated to Kerr's son.
Seven-year-old James Kerr's mum is film star
Patsy Kensit, who is now married to Liam.
Kerr, frontman for Simple Minds, said he was
"quite touched" by the song, Little James.
It is the first song ever written by singer Liam, and
some critics have slammed the lyrics as childlike
and naive.
But Kerr said: "I liked the song and I think it
showed the feelings of someone who loves
James."
Liam and Patsy's stormy relationship has
continually hit the headlines and Liam has gone
missing on benders after rows.
But Kerr, who fiercely guards his own private life,
refuses to condemn the volatile Oasis singer's
antics.
He said: "Whenever I have met Liam he has been
a gentleman. He may seem reckless, but he's not.
He's quite smart.
"I wish them the best. I know how hard it must be
to reach their level of success, never mind keep
hold of it. Oasis are a great band, the best in their
generation, and they deserve their success.
"I hope the album is a huge hit."
The long-awaited album, Standing on the
Shoulder of Giants, has had a mixed reception
from critics and some say it will mark the
beginning of the end for the controversial band.
Kerr heard it yesterday when it was played by his
15-year-old daughter Yasmin, whose mum is
Pretenders' singer Chrissie Hynde.
The record is certain to go straight to the top of
the charts - but that is not the whole story.
The total of 100,000 copies estimated to have
been sold yesterday is far short of the band's last
much-hyped album, Be Here Now, which sold
356,000 in its first 24 hours.
Many stores opened early to cope with demand,
but no crowds were reported.
