ok the name brews is short for "Hebrews" same as heeb, a hebrew is a jewish
person...
The song has something to do with Jews, I think its reffering to their
lifestyle or something.I dunno what all those words mean and at the ebd when
he says "C'mon ya shmutz one more time for hershall" thats how jews talk..
Blah Blah Blah

Anyway the song kicks ass regardless of what it mean...

HOFX is a 10" vinyl record released by Fat Wreck Chords in 1996. It's not actually called HOFX, but everyone calls it that for simplicity. Two songs
are on it... We Ain't Shit and Drugs are Good (also found on the Bored Generation comp). There were only 8300 copies released, so good luck finding
it. You might expect to pay in the neighborhood of $25. If you really want it, go to http://www.gemm.com

I don't know about any of that stuff... it's all so expensive! But it is a bit of a goldmine. You can even order the blowup sheep (hpz promo item)
from there I think!

I think that when mike wrote the brews he was having a go at the Jewish
way of life. Mike and eric are Jews but I'm unsure of whether they like
it or not.
Still a kickass song though.....

Yeah, I have a bootleg of NOFX in ASbury Park, NY from 1996 on the HPZ tour.
Mike demontrates the use of this blowup sheep.

The song is making fun of a group of jewish punks that look like
skinheads and get do things totally against their religion (ie tatoos).

Brews = Hebrews

Manashevitz = cheap kosher wine jews stereotypically drink

goyem = NonJews

shagitz = Non jewish teenagers

shicksas = not sure...probably some kind of girl.

O.G. = original gansta

mashuganas = Yiddish for "Crazy"

Chutspah = untranslatable yiddish term meaning cross between balls and
rudeness

"sporting anti-swastika tattoos" - it's against the jewish law to tattoo
yourself

"as long as we're home by Saturday morning" - they gotta be home in time for
synagogue

Fairfax, LA = a part of Los Angeles where the orthodox Jews live

and in the end you hear people singing "dai dayenu" that's a jewish hymn.

also...the gang vocals are listed as such and such.... but here's a breakdown
of their real names...
Erik Sandinberg --> Erik Sandin (Ghint)
Jeff Abar-tagoldberg-stein --> Jeff Abarta
Steve Taylorberg --> Steven Taylor
Kenny Lyonstein --> Kenny Watson
Eric Melvin --> Eric Melvin
Mel Hefe --> El Hefe

The way I figure, the So Long alblum cover is an very cleaver optical
illusion. If you hand the CD jacket to someone not familiar with it,
they will almost ALWAYS start off trying to read it upside-down! The
brain always wants to put lighter colors on the top while putting darker
colors on the bottom.
Even look at the song titles. If you glance at them you will notice
that they look in the right place until you look closer and there
upside-down.
THATS MY STORY AND I'M STICKIN' TO IT!
E-me if you think I'm right !
