Now I remember ybib said:

"you just reminded me however. Shukun, DON'T
DRINK ANY GUINNESS FROM A STORE THAT DOES NOT HAVE
THE ROCKET WIDGET INSIDE OF IT. I mean ask the
person at the counter if you must, or read the
side of the bottle. Without that
little invention it tastes like shit."

So I went to one of the many liquor stores
yesterday and picked up some Mikes and saw the
Guinness and got some. But I didn't know which one
to get. They had one that was a six pack of
bottles and one that was a four pack of big assed
cans. I got the bottles. None of the two said
anything about having the rocket widget or
anything like that. The bottles say on them:

Imported GUINNESS Extra Stout

Traditionally Brewed
1759
Guinness
Extra Stout
St. James's Gate Dublin

So did I get the right kind or not? The guy at the
counter didn't know anything about them, believe
me when I say this, there are a lot of dumb people
in rural Alaska. Any ways I'm going to check the
web site to find out as well.

Bought Stout, but should have bought Draught it looks
like.

Cans:

The "widget" is actually a plastic device which sits
at the bottom of the can. When the can is opened, the
widget releases a mixture of beer and nitrogen that
creates a surge of bubbles. When you pour it into a
glass these bubbles eventually settle to form the
famous tight white head creating the perfect pint
experience from the pub right at home.

Bottles:

Once the bottle is opened, the "rocket widget" creates
the famous surge and forms the signature creamy head
right inside. Every time you take a drink from the
bottle the "rocket widget" refreshes the surge so that
you get the perfect pint taste with every sip.
Ingenious.

Damn, does this stuff taste any good though?

Yeah I was going to say you should have got the big assed cans.

I probably would have done the same though, I always prefer glass.

Yea, well, this stout stuff doesn't taste so good! I hope to god the
draught taste better.

Hmm well in my opinion it does taste a lot better.

But it is also an acquired taste too. For me it's ok, but for the
price, I can't be bothered. There are too many cheaper drinks that
taste better !

Plus your not a chick, so you don't really need the Vit. B anyway ; )

If you want to drink some really good beer, try German beer, such as
"Beck's" or "Flensburger" or "Warsteiner"...

German beer tastes good to you because, US beer is shit !

But Australia actually has the best beer & we've won awards in Germany

Really? The only Aussie beer I've ever had was Fosters, which is
advertised as Australian but the stuff that we get in the U.S.
actually comes from Canada. Anyway, that Fosters stuff was rank--like
it was brewed with week-old vegetable oil or something. Never had
German beer. Had Heineken before and thought it was way overrated and
overpriced. Mexican beer tastes like it's made from dishwater.
Canadian beer, especially LaBatt Blue is great. As for American
beer...Rolling Rock or Coors Light ain't bad at all.

And what Guiness is good? I tried Guiness Extra Stout a few months
ago and it was the most disgusting stuff I've ever had. How can
anyone like that stuff?

Nobody drinks it here.

Best Ozzy beers imo are;

Coopers
Redback
VB
& my personal favourite Carlton mid-strength

But the tasmanian's have a nice beer now. I didn't like it when I
first tried it 9 years ago. But my old man got a carton of it for xmas
& it wasn't bad. Cascade premium lager. Though it was a hot xmas day

Heh. Fosters is the beer other countries assume we drink in Australia. In
reality, I don't remember the last time I even saw a Fosters. The three main
beers in Australia are VB (Victoria Bitter), Tooheys and XXXX (Fourex).
Carlton is also quite popular (my favourite beer is Carlton Midstrength).

(surprise, surprise) Foster's - though it's brewed in Hamburg by the

Do they even make Fosters in Australia? At least the Mexican,
Canadian, German, and (sometimes) English beers we get in the U.S. are
actually from where they're billed as being from.

You don't call them stubby coolers??? I thought it was a universal

different? Man, this is the biggest shock to me since I moved to Queensland

I was raised 100 kms south of the Queensland border and I never even heard
the word Nikko until I went to uni in Brisbane. I remember clearly I was in
a tute and someone asked the tutor if they had a Nikko. I had absolutely no
idea what was going on (images were conjured up of a Queensland cigarette)
until the tutor handed over a permanent marker for the student to create a
permanent overhead projector slide. The name comes from the brandname Nikko,
which apparently is a Japanese pen company. It cracked me up. I asked them
if they had ever heard of the company Artliner, and they said yes. I asked
why the pen wasn't called an Artliner then, and they just looked blankly at
me. It's strictly a Queensland thing (I think- it's certainly not a NSW
thing). And they get pissed off if you say XXXX is made in Milton at the
Castlemaine Brewery (say carselmaine) and tell you to pronounce it properly-
say casselmaine. It's weird.

You mean it's not Castle-main, that is weird hehe, not that anyone
drinks Qld beer here. The common thoughts on Qld 4X here is that it is
mud & that's the most well known Qld beer for us (in WA).

I mainly drink wine these days but I'm thinking of homebrewing again,
coz my mates homebrew tastes so much smoother (than commercial
beer's). As in it tastes as if there are less chemical's in the taste.

yeah! exactly! however Friday nite I discovered my new fave Irish Pub, great
Guinness on tap and all my fave Guinness pictures that I want to steal. Nice
ass bartender too, hooked us up with two free drinks. Lots of great food. I am
so moving into that place.

I love them too, I have 1 so far I picked up at an auction : )

One of the local pubs here have 7, though 2 are the same. Funny thing
is they don't have guiness on tap, you can only get the cans.

Guiness is good for you ; )

I did very well !

$87 including 10% auction + GST & it was already framed.
I havn't had it checked for authenticity yet but I think a poster
block mounted & framed would cost about the same anyway : )

A friend already offered me $100, but I'm putting it above my bar when
I build one !

really put it in the house : )

It's going to be a major pain in the ass, but oh
well. I just hope the cat doesn't freak out on the
baby when she's old enough to crawl. So far the cat
has been around her a little bit and all she does is
sniff her and then goes away.

Should be ok, we had 2 cats when my little sisters were babies &
nothing ever happened. I've never heard of anything ever happening
with a cat, it's dogs you need to be wary of. I think, I'm no expert
though, don't even have kids yet : )

that's the thing, it doesn't matter the temperment of the cat, they ALWAYS
scratch if they feel attacked. and cats are smaller and kids like to pull on
tails and shit. dogs tend to be protective of the child rather than biting and
they don't feel as threatened by a kid pulling on them, in fact they enjoy the
play time.

k::this if course is all in my experience::c

first, it was a strange dog right? dogs that are in families know that the
baby is a new member, it has a lot to do with their sense of smell. second,
yes it does depend on the dog, certain dogs were breed to be fight dogs. but
what kind of person wants to raise a kid with a fight dog in the house anyway?

It depends on the personality of the pet !

Some dogs get very jealous of the attention a new born is receiving.
You hear of dogs attaching kids all the time. But I've never seen a
deadly psycho cat story on the news lol

That's a shame : (
Doberman's are lovely intelligent dogs when they're looked after by
nice people !

Reminds me of our dog we had for 14 years, a German Shepherd X'ed with
blach Laborador. It was a friendly dog, never saw him bite anybody
until a stranger asked to use out toilet & he bit her on the bum when
she was walking there. Luckily she never reported it, coz she only had
a scratch. Otherwise the same would have happen'ed to us !

Those little yappy sausage dogs can be vicious hey lol My friend had
one that was half blind. If you taped it on bum while my friend was
loding it. It would go psycho & start attacking him. It was hell funny
