Because the people hang around it and trash the place leaving their
beer cans and crap. Courtney doesn't want Frances to have to see all
of that. Also it costs 10,000 dollars every month for security.

If Nirvana fans are coming from all over the world to visit the place
Kurt died, don't you think they'll still come whether the structure's
there or not?
>see ya,

Oh please! I have been to that park LOTS of times & there are NO BEER
CANS & SYRINGES!!!!! Once again cl LIES to make Kurt's fans look like
a bunch of lewzers. She wants to get rid of EVERYTHING that she
thinks people hold dear because of Kurt. she wants ALL the attention.
she hadn't been in the news for awhile SOOOOO she had to do something
to get the spotlight back on herself & she did.

VERBATIM:
The carriage house where Seattle's grunge rock legend Kurt
Cobain shot and killed himself in April 1993 is being torn down.
His wife, Courtney Love, a rock star in her own right as lead singer of
the group Hole, is removing it in part to be a good neighbor, but also to
ensure the privacy and security for herself and the couple's young
daughter, Frances Bean.
The structure has become a mecca for fans of Cobain and his band
Nirvana. Many make pilgrimages to stare at it from tiny Viretta Park next
door. Some go further, threatening the privacy and security of Cobain's
widow and daughter.
"I'm knocking down the greenhouse where Kurt died because it's become
bigger than the Space Needle," Love said recently.
Like the Paris tomb of 1960's rock legend Jim Morrison, the Viretta
Park benches have become graffiti-filled monuments to Cobain, who has been
called the poet of his generation.
But while many fans and curiosity seekers take pictures or stare at
the carriage house and leave, others "take pieces of the trees," Love
said.
"The erosion around my fenceline is unbelievable," she said. "Some of
them try to climb the fence. It's like beer cans littered everywhere and
icky debris. Who wants to walk their dog tripping over a syringe? This is
my (neighborhood) park and I can't bring my daughter into the park."
Love said she is seeking peace for her home and her neighborhood park
by tearing down the carriage house. But that may not last long.
She is being drawn into a turf dispute involving the city, a group
called Neighbors & Friends of Viretta Park, and another neighbor,
Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, over encroachments by property owners on
the two acre park above Lake Washington.
A renet Superior Court decision ordered Schultz to give back pieces
of his property to the park, although he does not have to remove a
controversial driveway running through it to his house.
Love, who is meticulously restoring the 1901 Denny-Blaine mansion she
and Cobain bought a few months before his death, said she has willingly
returned land to the city in the past.
But she said the city and the Friends of the Park may be going too
farin their efforts to restore the park to its original boundaries.
The most recent surveyor's marks on Love's property shrank her
boundary to within 8.5 feet of her front porch. If that stands, she would
be forced to cut into her house to accomodate her one lane driveway.
She said she'd like the city to grant her just a few feet in front of
her house to give her breathing space. As a mother in the public eye, she
said, the proposed new boundaries make her feel vulnerable.
"I'm mainly worried for Frances Bean," Love said as she strolled with
her daughter outside the property. "It's intimidating. This park was
relatively obscure. Then Kurt killed himself and now it's a big deal."
"I've been conciliatory" about restoring land to the city, she said.
"I've been a simp, to be honest. Now I'm tired of being nice about it."

>From Page B1
Love said she already pays $10,000 a month for guards and surveillance
along her border with the park - a benefit to the city. And she said she
has already given the city eight to 10 feet with no complaints.
She said she's irritated with Schultz for stirring up the
controversy - and being allowed to keep his driveway - and with Friends of
Viretta Park for voicing more concern with the park's horticulture than
with drugs and other safety concerns.
"On top of overlooking the real problems in the park - which happen
to be real problems in this town - the city is asking me now to cut into
this 100-year-old house," she said. "I don't want to seem sour on the city
because I still haven't gotten an answer about whether they'll give me
those few feet. I hope they will."
Love's concerns may be premature, siad Terry Dunning, the Seattle
Parks Department's real estate manager.
"We appreciate her situation as she can appreciate the park's
situation, but there has been no serious discussion or negotiations with
her" in recent weeks, Dunning said. "We're always anxious to talk to them
and work something worked out."
Dunning said the issue only recently turned to Love's property
because the focus has been Schultz's property.
Love says she doesn't intend to move and wants a good relationship
with the city.

No it won't. If they raze the whole area, fans will still go there,
because it's the place where KC lived and died. In the UK, people still
visit "homes" of the Beatles where no one related to any Beatle has lived
for over 30 years. If CL ever moves, fans will still go there.
