why does everyone hate silverchair?

I would really like to know why everyone hates silverchair. They
are a good band if you like the modern rock music. Those who trash
them need to listen to them or go back and listen to their country
or r&b music. Everyone compares them to Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc.
When you were their age, didn't you duplicate the things that you
admired? Give them time and they will develop even further. With
the release of Freak Show, I think they are showing the true silverchair
sound, breaking free of all stereotypes. Listen to 'No Association'
and 'Pop Song for Us Rejects' and you will, or should, see what I mean.

I saw silverchair live over the Easter break, and they truly are a band
that plays hard!!. Who cares if some people don't like them, I'm sure they
3000 people who went and saw them that night certainly got their monies
worth!!

here's why everyone hates silverchair: everyone turns on mtv. everyone
sees a band with a blonde, long haired singer who also plays guitar.
everyone sees a bass player with short dark hair. everyone sees a drummer
with long black hair. everyone hears "the modern rock music" about being
freaks and losers and stuff. but it's not Nirvana, so everyone pukes.
also, silverchair fans, why are you an outcast if you wear the same kind
of stupid shirts as everyone else, and have 3 earrings like everyone else,
and a black tattoo on either your ankle or shoulder like everyone else,
and play/listen to the type of music that's the most popular? just

Sonic Youth..I don't know, I doubt it.
Although Sonic Youth was never really commercially succesful the way these
cheesy groups are today, and they were truly a forerunner to many things,
I don't think they were all that original. Good doesn't mean original.
Actually though, I was pertaining that to these groups of the 90's,
Bush, Verve Pipe, Goo Goo Dolls, Silverchair, Garbage, etc etc.
Even my favorite picks-CountingCrows, Veruca Salt, Collective Soul, Hole-
aren't stunningly original.

I never said I know a lot about those bands. They don't interest me.
But I'll bet you they're not original. I knew how long both of them
have been around, thanks, but I'm not into them. But I'm sure they're
not that original, which was my POINT. I have zero belief in originality.
It doesn't exist. If you think something is original, it's because you

I totally agree with you. silver chare sucks, and so does bush.
Silver chare has this like immage of a poor abused freak, and its not
kool. Not only that, but from a musician's perspective, neither band can
play there instriments. I mean, Nirvana weren't great at what they did,
but they had an energetic feel which more than made up for that loss.
The new bands lack originallity and spontinaity. I think that
silverchair and bush as well as other bands should be killed off very
quickly. i had a gf who worshiped bush and daniel johnson from s.c, and I
hated them more then. I wish that I could personally kill gavin, but oh
well.
