"i'm stuck in this dream it's changing me i am becoming" - trent reznor - nin
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just checked it out, and I Have to say that it's pretty damn cool. It'll
be even better when it's finished....
What's funny is, somewhere there, you said that NIN is great music for
weddings. That's really funny you said that, because the first time I
heard a NIN song (that I can recall) was at a wedding. It was Down In It.

I tried to get pix of Trent but it said the file didn't exist. Can anyone
help me out?

I liked the Home Page but it took me 10 minutes to get it because of all
the graphics you have included. They were great but really not
practical. Try reducing the picture size for the main screen and then
have an option where you can select it to view the entire picture. The
picture of Trent is great but way to big for these surroundings. A
simpel logo will be fine for the home page and then maybe subscreens with
all of the pictures. So that a person can get on quickly check out the
fact lists and leave w/o having to wait a long time.
The transmission time for these large pictures is just to long.
Overall, It is great idea and I wish the page the best for the future.
Just some constructive Criticism.

the nin home page is at www link: "http://www.scri.fsu.edu/~patters/nin.html"
I agree here. I'm in the middle of bringing up the home
page, and I have time to write this reply! Any home page
that takes *minutes* to bring up is a home page I won't visit
often, if ever again. Other than that I really like the
idea of NIN home page, and look forward to seeing what I can
see whenever the page finishes loading...

Wrong. First off, my site was F_CKED yesterday for some reason. And second,
unless your site has a crappy connection, it doesn't take long for the stuff
to come up. I've been real busy w/ school and stuff, and am going on site
this wednesday. And as I said earlier, I was going to wait before letting
everyone know about it, and wasn't finished at the time. So just chill out
til wednesday. It has more info than you'll find ANYWHERE else. latre.

Just a suggestion... If you're using Mosaic (which I'm afraid is the only
graphical browser I have any experience of), you could always Delay Image
Loading... I usually do this as a matter of course, for just this sort of
thing. Just a thought... If course, if you're using a browser which doesn't
allow you to delay image loading, that's a completely different ketlle of
pigs altogether, I guess. Out of interest, is there anyone out there who
uses such a browser? Mail me direct if you care to, I'm interested in this
stuff.
And yeah, it is a cool page, once you get there! :-)
Sorry about the non-musical thread, must pick up _Closer_ some time!

As well as everyone else - nice. Real nice. Connect was slow though. :-(

I notice this was somewhat crude. I formated about every song NIN has
into html. Let me know if you'd like me to send you the who sha-bang.
Or you can snag the source yourself from:
http://www.cis.ksu.edu/~solder/music/NIN.index.html
" " nin.broken.html
" " nin.down.html
" " nin.make.love.html
" " nin.phm.html
You'll have to tweak a few things but a quick search and replace
should take care of that....hope you can use it! :-)

Sorry there.. I read your reply as hostile, sorry.
: you should reduce the size of the pics, because I have a _blazing_
: connection (my school is spliced directly into CONCERTNET, which is
: an INternet backbone) and it still takes a minute or two to upload
: those pics, so it's probably a lot longer for your avg. user.
I believe it's all fixed now.. check it out.

I always accept input. DO note that the entire page will be MASSIVELY
expanding on wednesday, as I will be scanning in all the singles, and
getting more info collected... latre..
My host was down for some reason over the weekend. it's (hopefully) working
now...

Sorry about my non-musical reply, ;) but halo 9 kicks ass. 9 tracks, great
covert art. And a whole new sound.. It's like TDS + Ice Cube = R+B NIN,
but not real r+b, just a cool beat. Good for a dance club or something..
Oh, and whoever said that all the remixes were basically changing the chorus,
YOU'RE DEAD WRONG!! What were you thinking? Each one is a totally different
style and sound. They all kick. latre..

Well, I don't think that anytime soon I'll be cutting up the lyrics, it's
pointless. I'm keeping them by album, albeit i might change the format
of phm and broken to fit the format of tds. And i'll be having the other
"extracurricular" lyrics too.. latre..

hmm, a friend of mine has a program which gets files from uwp.edu and
auto converts 'em into html, like you'd autoget nine inch nails, it
would DL everything, and split each album up into songs... seems more
convenient than going by album, specially if you are looking for the
lyrics to 'suck' and you'd like them quickly :)
may as well either copy his mike's files or split 'em up yourself :)
(or you could check out that file on his homepage, er, um,
http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~mengwong/mengwong.html)

Uh - maybe some decaf would be in order, Jason? :-) I didn't
mean to flame you, but to give feedback on what will
hopefully be a popular home page. A "Bzzzt - WRONG - thanks
for playing" response to your users is a little
counter-productive, don't ya think? (Although since
you *are* a Trent Reznor fan, I can understand the
attitude... :-).
I sat and watched the modem lights while loading your page
and it was running at full-tilt, so I don't think the
download speed has anything to do with your site being
"F_CKED" on a particular day. I have what I think is a
pretty common link speed (a 14.4 running SLIP); few of us
have T1 lines directly connected to our
homes/lofts/igloos/offices, and images that are
200-300k are bound to take some serious time to download
and don't really belong on home pages. I feel (and I'd bet
others do too) that home pages are there for quick
navigation, not 8x10 color glossy photos. Adam Curry's
home page is a pretty good example of one that's
aesthetically nice (well, at least in terms of image size
if not content) while still being a fast load. The picture
of Trent was indeed a nice shot, but it might be better
placed somewhere else in your hierarchy.
Anyway - congrats on your server and I'll cruise by again
to see how it's coming. Aside from the comments about the
home page images, it looked really great.
Regards,
um, is the latest FAQ there?
: hey, finally checked it out w/mosaic, and tho it took a while to load,
