Well, after hearing/reading various things, I decided that the only way to
find out what's really going on is to ask Robin himself...so I did. And
here's what he told me:

He's taking an indefinite leave of absence from Nine Inch Nails in order to
be a musician in Cirque Du Soleil. With them, he will be playing stringed
instruments (guitars, violin, cello), and, obviously, have a totally new
and different environment, something he said he needed.

Don't cry, tho, boys and girls...nothing is set in stone as of yet as far
as NiN goes. He will be doing a lot of recording on his own, and Trent is
making sure that he's the first to get any tapes that Robin makes. Trent
has told him that when the time comes for him to get a guitarist, he's on
the top of the list. In order to perform & tour with Cirque, tho, Robin is
giving up the studio work that the entire band *will* be doing for the next
album. And, to further clarify any rumors, there hasn't been anything done
yet for the new album. Remember how TDS took two years to come out? Well,
by the time this new one is done and touring is a possibility, Rob could be
all ready to get back into the NiN scene. But not right now. He needs a
change. This could lead to either a short leave of absence for him, or a
permanent one...as of right now, it's the former.

For anyone who wants to go see Robin perform (and who the hell doesn't?
His lead vocalist is going to be an 11-year old girl singing in
Italian...!), he'll be leaving for Montreal in a few days (and getting rid
of his New Orleans apartment...which means he won't be around for NiNCon).
After there, Cirque Du Soleil is moving to Toronto. From there, it will be
playing various venues in California for about a year. This current tour
is planned to last 3 years, but Robin doesn't see himself being there that
long. But he still isn't sure.

I told Robin I was gonna kick his ass if he doesn't come back to NiN at the
first opportunity, but that didn't seem to really scare him too much :).
Well, like he said to me, at least we're now hearing it "right from the
horse's aaaaasssss" :)

btw, mail can still be sent to Robin through Nothing Records/Interscope
Records, so send any letter for him to there...I can tell you that he does
read the mail that he's sent, tho they forward it to him only about once a
month. Make sure and tell him we want him back :)

DJ, proud to know a man as talented as Robin Finck

I was listening to HOWARD STERN last week. He had on DEE SNYDER (twisted
sister) who said he's touring with ROBIN and some guy from Marilyn Manson.
Called SFW.
