From SLS News:

'About halfway through Limp Bizkits set Fred Durst walks around to the
back of the pit on this mini stage type platform and says "This next
songs is about Trent Reznor" and proceeds with the song Counterfeit.
Which has the lyrics "You've even stolen your appearance from hanging
around with my family, but I, never should have dropped my guard, so you
could stab me in the back.....etc etc you're freaking me out you wear a
mask called counterfeit." '

What are everyone's thoughts on this? Will this continue? I am
starting to think maybe it was kind of harsh of Trent to say what he did
in RS when all that Durst had said about Nails was good things.

Now Manson and Durst will probably be bashing Trent in the future. The
Bizkit/NIN rivalry is interesting though... as Limp seems to appeal
more to the jock/popular people while NIN is more for the outcasts...
It almost makes sense if you look at it that way that they would have
shit between them.

Will the fact that Durst is VP of Interscope affect things at all?

NIN is my favorite of all time and I don't care for Limp Bizkit much at
all. I like Korn (they used to be good), and just see Limp as their
redheaded stepchild.

The Fragile just kills everything that's out right now especially in the
rap metal catagory.

Durst is only a VP in title. His only control at Interscope is that
he can sign new acts. He has ABSOLUTELY no power over existing acts
on the label.

I particularly found this line to be funny:
"This song is about "Trent Reznor" and proceeds

with the song Counterfeit.
Which has the lyrics "You've even stolen your appearance from hanging
around with my family, but I, never should have dropped my guard, so you
could stab me in the back.....etc etc you're freaking me out you wear a
mask called counterfeit." '

I think it's funny because we all know that limp Bizkit is a cheap
"counterfeit" of Korn or any other metal band. Durst stole his appearance
from KORN while riding their coat tails to MTV. I don't understand how
this song could possibly be about TR considering most bands (Gravity
Kills, Stabbing Westward, etc.) good or bad are counterfeits of TR. I
think Durst needs to get off the crack he's on and realize that he's just
a flavor of the month before attacking somebody who has been in the
business for a decade.

I'm glad Trent told Durst to fuck off, the last thing we need is Durst
kissing Trents' ass and following him around like they did with KORN. As
far as "VP MR. Durst"....what a joke, Vice President my ass.....I'm sure
Interscope isn't stupid.....they would remove Durst before they do
anything to Trent.

My take anyway....

I find it funny how in a pre-MVA awards interview, Durst was asked who he
was looking forward to seeing perform the most. His answer? "Definitely
Trent Reznor, NIN". Looks like he's a big fan. I guess he felt stupid
because obviously he thinks the world of Trent's music and Trent goes and
says that basically Durst's music is unimpressive. That's what I like about
Trent - he doesn't sugar coat things - he tells the truth about how he
feels. If Durst cant take it, fuck him. I for one agree. This is *just*
my opinion, but I think Limp Bizkit is the worst shit I have ever heard..

hmmm...I smell self-congratulatory bullshit...'The Fragile' was #1 last week
on Billboard! Guess what? Jocks and popular people (and teenagers and
Goth-wannabes and sorority sisters, etc.) like NIN!

And he cannot just do what he wants. His choices are subject to the same
judgement that any other artist/A&R person would be subject to. He would stand
to make more money than an A&R person but he also cannot just say "sign them"
and have it done. He can make administrative changes- add publications/radio
stations/ dj's to be included in press package mailings, make publicity
decisions, people he can approve for money as scouts etc- lots of little stuff-
stuff that could build a roster but little compared to ever being able to do
what Trent does- which is all of that, and he CAN sign who he wants. Mr Limp
Fred B would have never been given that kind of freedom.

Sounds like Mr. Durst can dish it out but can't take it. I mean, what
kind of comeback is that? "You've even stolen your appearance from
hanging around with my family." ... ? He almosts sounds like a fanatic
who can't understand why one of his idols doesn't like him.

Fred Durst is a fat, musically inept retard with no care for anything
except $$$'s.

I can't get over how people, check that....complete idiots, flock to see
this ugly, low-talent, "ordinary dude." I see his fans...most of them
are just big dumb jocks or the supposed "freaks", or the monosyllabic
headbangers...It's so embarassing to hear someone call themselves a
"limp biskuit" fan. People say the backstreet boys and britney spears
and shit like that is what's wrong with music....no...that overtly
commercial shit has always been around and doesn't threaten anything
legitimate or the "rock" genre...what IS threatening is the complete
ABSENCE of rock, or anything remotely different, challenging, or
thoughtful.

Yeah, but both of the statements you guys made means absolutely nothing.
NIN isn't *for* anyone...Trent simply does what he does and
unfortunately for him a lot of dumb people grab a hold of it because it
IS accessible...it's IS pop. Of course that is what Trent is going for,
producing something accessible so it lures people in and then maybe
they'll hear something that they've never heard before and it'll open
some doors for them.

Limp Biskuit is a lot more commercial, and not at all serious...i think
most would agree. You don't have to stretch your brain too far to see
they're just some dumbfucks with guitars and cheesy "bad attitude"
images.

here's my thoughts: what will durst be doing in 10 years? texaco, or
shell? and trent? still has a great rep., an excellent producer, etc.

I was under the impression that Manson wasn't too keen on Korn as a

i wouldn't. i think they're far from "the worst shit i have ever heard." i
think it just gets exaggerated by people because they're getting so much
attention. if limp bizkit would have come out a few years ago when there
was more "alternative rock" (for lack of a better word) on the charts, they
probably would have sold moderately and would have been dismissed as an
amusing afterthought that no one (fans or detractors) would really remember
in a few years, which is what they are anyway. (although, granted their
lyrics may be close to "the worst shit i have ever heard")

You left out Primus. Primus like Korn, Limp Bizkit, Manson (although
Manson didn't know who Les was when he met him, see Primus Vidoeplasty
home video) and I have heard Les say if it weren't for Nin, Interscope
would have made no money and Primus would have been dropped off the
label years ago.

And in reverse I know korn and limp like Primus, dunno about Trent, but

Get over yourself. There's room for LB in the industry. There aren't
enough loud groups out there anymore (NIN sure doesn't qualify these days).
It's "embarassing" to hear a person say they are a fan of LB? Why? Don't
be so damn close minded, you self righteous alterna-trash drain on society.
Geez. People like you are just as bad and close-minded as the people that
listen to nothing but the Backstreet Boys and Spears. Again, get over

Looks to me as if they're all making it up. Most of them probably
couldn't give a damn about each other. From this I am excluding
Manson/Reznor's relationship, which Manson probly deliberately fucked up
for publicity+money, but trent took it badly. I dunno why Trent gave any
comment on Durst. Spose he just said what he thought. Why don't they all
shut up and get on with music. Trent's probly never met Durst (well, for
long) so I dunno WRF that song is talking about!! He just made a comment
about he is sucking his ass, which does appear to be true.

There was no fight, Jon came out and jumped on manson and wrestled him to the
ground in a playfull way. he did this because Manson was takeing Stabs at Davis
during his set.

Think of Fred Durst as having that "little kid" mentality, Jody. In other
words, he might very well have been offered the position of A&R Rep., but in
application to the beforehand said mentality, he would have stuck out his
tongue, whined, and complained that he wanted a title, because the "title" makes
them feel important. Remind me to find some of my Psych notes on this.

He will be on VH1's "Where are they now?" I believe he will be on the
same show as Kid Rock. My guess is Durst will go on being an "industry
dewd." He will probably rank pretty high at some peak new metal label after
Interscope gives him the boot. He will be the 21st century equivalent of
those late 30-something guys you see in the industry. You know the ones
with the long hair and the leather jackets who refuse to admit the 80's are
long over. Except Durst will probably still be wearing his red Yankees hat
backwards and his tat-sleeves will be big blurs of greenish-blue ink. Oh
well, beats Texaco I guess.

Right on. People gotta stop labeling people like that. You tend to make a lot

You've obviously never watched Where Are They Now?? on VH1. It should be
required watching for all up and coming rock musicians. Of course it won't do
any good ,cuz they'll just say the same things all the guys who start drinking
all the time and doing drugs say" It won't happen to me" .
Rolling Stone did a great article about this subject years ago . The percentage
of rock musicians in this country that make $$ doing music ,the percentage that
make it big,the percentage that are still big 5 yrs later, the ones who still
have $$ years later etc etc. It was really interesting, but its exactly the same
as professional sports. Most of these guys have little or no education. They
don't understand anything about handling $$. They're very young when they start
making all this $$ and they havn't had enough life experience to know that shit
like this don't last !!

Howard Stern had the lead singer from Three Dog Night on once and he said he
blew aprx 50-60 MILLION dollars!! And he made that $$ back in the 70's!!!
Howard practically had a coronary.So did I ...

it depends on if he thinks he's going to still be around then. if his ego
gets too big and he thinks he's going to be around forever then he probably
will end up in a texaco in about five years. if he's smart, he'll put aside
a few million for a rainy day (or rainy year, decade, entire 21st century,
whatever)

It wasn't in cash. Howard was asking him to explain how you can blow that much
$$. He gave an example: You need drugs ,but you need cash to buy them. You
don't have the cash but you own a building that's worth almost a million
dollars. A guy you know offers you $50,000 cash for the title to the building
and you sign it cuz you need the cash asap to get your drugs asap. He traded
all his gold records etc for drugs. That reminded me of that segment in
Manson's book where he talked about that drug dealer he knew who had the
gold/platinum records plastered all over his apt from lots of famous
performers. Manson of course didn't mention the names, cuz we all know how
discreet he is. :)

This is a pretty amusing statement considering that last we all heard ,manson
was saying something about doing painting s of drug dealers to trade for the
drugs. Cute huh?/

Limp Bizkit doesn't hold a candle to Trent. Trent's a genius in my
mind....Limp Bizkit just sounds like something I've heard a hundred times over.
