I just read on Music News of the World that Chris Vrenna has
left NIN. They swear this is from Nothing directly not from
Blackrose. To top it off he has joined Smashing Pumpkins, in
an 'undisclosed capacity'. I don't want to believe this, but the
source seems reliable. Can anyone confirm/disprove this?

i first heard the rumor about two weeks ago from someone who knows a lotta
folks over there. believed it then. looks like it's true. ATN is
usually pretty accurate...

everyone he knows, goes away, in the end. i hope Rave can take the place
of all his friends. success changes a person, and sometimes it ain't all
good.

I really hope this isn't true. Strange that Vrenna would leave, because
him and trent are good friends. I can't confirm or disprove it, but i
hope it is just a rumor.

actually, i wouldn't be *too* suprised if it were true...chris and trent
have had periods where they didn't work together...the one that pops into
my head right away is the one somewhere around the end of the hate
tour/beginning of the now i.n. tour when jeff ward was playing drums...

honestly, i can't blame chris for leaving, considering how little
recognition/credit trent has given him in the past...according to
interviews with chris, he seems to be the person who manipulates most of
the samples that trent uses (an example would be the "i need bees, chris"
thingy)

i hope he decides to rejoin, because there would be a huge element of the
nin sound missing without him...

love,

hope

I think Chris is just doing some extra-curricular stuff with Smashing
Pumpkins...I highly doubt he quite NIN. Besides, NIN is basically Trent,
with help from others...Trent writes all the music, and the others kinda
help out with his efforts...I highly doubt that Chris would leave a NIN,
to join Smashing Pumpkins-I know I wouldn't.

The Smashing Punkins part of the story makes me think that they're
confusing Chris with Filter's drummer - who is most definitely the guy who
left his band to join the Punkins as their new drummer. (He says
circuitously...)

I heard a rumour that Reznor fell in love with a hip, Japanese drummachine
called the "Yoko Blaster 2000", and as it demanded to be included live on
stage, Trent had no choice but to fire Vrenna from the band.
