This is not true. Read just about any interview with KMFDM, and you have
your proof. It originally meant "Keine Mitleid Fur Die Mehnreit" or something
close, which means "No Pity For The Majority". The band now states that
KMFDM does not mean anything anymore.

yeah, yeah, you're right, but what the band used to say (before they started
saying it didn't mean anything, or that it meant the Depeche Mode thing), is
that since the "M"s were interchangeable, it meant either "No Pity for
the Majority" or "No Majority for the Pitied." I don't know how the latter
would translate into German, but it's obviously not what's on the inside
of What Do You Know... There's something about this in the r.m.i. fact, but
the important thing is that whatever KMFDM means, it has nothing to do with
Depeche Mode.

No, that's not the point. First of all, I simply transcribed what was on the
inside of the WDYK,D? insert. Don't imply that 'you people' are translating
anything wrong at all. This is the work of KMFDM... not me or anyone else.
Furthermore, it has been said time and time again that they (KMFDM) accidentally
put the words in the wrong order.... I don't know German, and have not professed
as such. My post simply served to stop the little Kill Mother Fucking DM rumor.

This has got to be one of the most disputed topics in music that
I have seen in the last few years - in fact I just had an argument with
my friend about it the other day. I told him it USED to mean something,
but KMFDM has since claimed it means nothing (I heard them say it on an
interview with my own ears, so unless they are blatantly lying, I'd say
that KMFDM no longer stands for anything).
But it makes you wonder though. Think about how much subversive
publicity this group gets for such a stupid debate. They are probably
better known for their vague name then for any of their songs. Now the
question is, do you think they planned it that way?
Also, has anyone heard the remixes of 'Light' yet? I'm very
curious about this maxi-single, as it has been totally hyped up. It's a
good idea to get lots of other groups to remix. I especially want to
hear the NIN and Die Warzau versions. I've been told that the groups'
influences are quite apparent in the remixes - lends it character.
Anyone tell me about this single please?
