DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS
Beyond 'Come On Eileen,' by Poddy Grant
"Dexys Midnight Runners represent the highs and lows of the band-with-a-purpose idea. Perennially changing image like Bowie but with a message based on attacking compromise and inauthenticity, their main instigator was Kevin Rowland. A singer who had paid his dues in the punk scene, he, like many others, felt that scene quickly lost its dynamism and world-changing spirit. Possessing an especially combative personality (exacerbated by an appreciation of Scorsese films), he intended to revive the kind of fire that infused '60's soul music."
We're always looking for good writers and/or ideas so let us know if you have anything to share.
See you online,
Jason
