Shit, not that it matters one bit.

I hope you people are kidding. I mean jesus christ; following your logic, it
might be safe to assume he experimented in child molestation, enjoys being
operated on, and moonlights as a vampire, among other things. Shut up
already.

Oops, you're the first one to compare bisexuality to child
molestation.

Where are you from? Texas

I couldn't care less about Patton's sexuality. The over focus on
everything about this man's life is probably the reason why he like to
alienate himself from his so called fans

You're obviously not understanding me. People were assuming that the content
of the lyrics sung reflect his tates/preferences/life, which is obviously a
stupid assumption to make seeing as how Mike Patton has sung lyrics over the
years which put him in the role of a number of different characters.

It's no wonder he's said in interviews that he doesn't like writing
lyrics...

Warning: One Man's Opinion alert...

I recall reading something somewhere (an old HM, I think. Any aussies
here...?) in an interview with Mike. Basically he was saying that singers
cop more flack than actors, even though actors are more, erm, visible. What
I mean is this: Saying that Mike molests kids, or sucks cock, or even rapes
people (he never said it was a chick in Jizzlobber...) because he sings

about it is just like saying that Tom Hanks is a simple-minded Alabama fool,
or an AIDS victim, or even a boy in a man's body (remember "BIG", anyone?)

Of course, that's only one man's opinion....

He said also that his lyrics didn't mean anything special,
he always pick words because of the rhythm, not meaning...

Exactly, most of the times, people are looking for a meaning behind a
song that is probably not even there. Look at the Pink Cigarette where
people talk about all the symbolism behind PC. He probably laughs his
ass off.

Let's stop this stupid conversation about Mike's sexuality. Don't
forget other Bungle ban members read this shit. Let's not alienate
them from us.

Let's just love them for who they are and the music they make, no
matter what or who they fuck

;)))

Please people, don't flame. It's a joke.

Its amazing...within two days of its original posting, people were
absolutely convinced Patton could possibly, be a child molester, just
because somebody wanted to know if he was bi or not. And we wonder why
things such as the Enquirer exist.

What do you mean he chooses his lyrics based on rhythm and not meaning?
This is absurd! If you listen to ANY of his lyrics, you will hear quite
a bit of continuity. He may derive the first line from purely rhythmical
inspiration, but from that point on he obviously builds on the manifest
content of those first words to create a theme or story-line. If it was
mostly rhythm and little meaning, you would have something closer to
Fatomas. But in FNM and Bungle, obviously meaning is abundant.

I have read in some patton interviews that the rhythm and melody to patton's
lyric's are written long before the words. The words just fit in.

This topic needs to be changed to Patton's method". Anyway, check it
out: I have WebTV, so I don't think I can paste other peoples comments
onto my own(?), but to those of you who I am about to repond, you know
who you are. Look, once again, he may derive the first few words of a
song TOTALLY based on sound or rhythm or whatever, but from there a
strict rule of thematic continuity is obeyed. How do I know? Because its
obvious. I don't care what youv'e read. Am I calling Patton a liar? No,
it's not that simple. It could be that you guys are lying, or that the
interviewer is misqouting him, or that you are misunderstanding what you
have read, or that Patton IS lying, or whatever!!!! Regardless of what
you have read, all you have to do is look at the fucking songs and see
that they are not based excusively on sound or rhythm. I"m not saying
that sound or rythym does not influence his choice of particular words,
but you guys are making it sound like these things are the MAIN factors.
C'mon!!! He may choose the word "street" over "road" because one sounds
better or ryhmes with the last line, but they both have the same
meaning, AND MEANING IS OBVIOUSLY VERY IMPORTANT TO HIM BECAUSE ALL OF
HIS FUCKING LYRICS ARE COHESIVE AND LINEAR LIKE A NICE LITTLE NURSERY
RYHME. Get it? Forget the fucking interviews! Read the blasted lyrics.
He can say whatever he wants in the interviews, but the lyrics show the
plan of the architect who built them far better than any anecdote
delivered after the fact. OK?

I think your comments were pretty true of anything made before KFADFFAL.
Angel Dust had really prethunk lyrics, same with TRT and MrB's earlier
stuff.
The lyrics still make sense on KFAD, but were not very central (put
together after the fact). AOTY, barely any thought seems to have been put
into them (look at 'home sick home'. How many times can you rhyme 'home'
with itself?). So I wouldn't paint the guy as a totally cerebral and
painstaking architect.
I think California has the most coherent lyrical structuring of anything
MP-related since AD, but not all the writing falls to him there either.

Speaking of lyrics between old/new songs, anyone else notice the recycled
lyric from 'Bloody Mary' in 'Last Cup of Sorrow'?

that's all
