Ok, so now I am sort of getting the hang of it, but I still need help
please!! I used audiograbber to get the track to an wav file, then I used a
program called AMPlifier to encode it. I finally figured out how to encode
it into an MP3, but when I went to play the MP3 with Winamp, it gave me an
error message:
error: layer 1 MPEG files not supported
And when I tried to open it with AMPlifier, I got the following:
OhhMan.........Yet another Exception Error
What does this mean?? How can I get it to work? Am I even close to getting
a working MP3?
kev.

Hi Kev,
Here is a really good site for information about making MP3's.
It seems like you need to get an MP3 encoder program. There are lots of
different ones available. That URL also has links for downloading
encoders. If you're still having problems you can e-mail me.
.................jo
In article <6kl31g$c...@priv-sys04-le0.telusplanet.net>,
kvpk@telusplanet*SpamBgone*.net says...
and it works........ like it should.......

...fairly easy guys, you need 2 programs only
1.
- WinDAC 1.41 (CD ripper)
- Fraunhofer MPEG Layer-3 Producer (Professional) (MP3 creator)
2.
'RIP' the CD audio file to a WAV file on your hard drive.
3.
Then, with PLENTY of time to spare, run Producer, select the
proper bitrate (ie ALWAYS USE 44khz, 128kbps), let your PC just sit
there and in the end you have a MP3 file.
Tips:
- Don't do anything else whilst doing Step 3. (you may take too much
time away from the Producer and cause skips in your MP3). Make sure
to also turn off screen savers, but if you HAVE to do something always
listen to the entire MP3 before deleting the WAV (just saves time
re-ripping the WAV)
Hope this helps ...... let me know if you need more help, but
be sure to visit www.mp3.com and any other good software sites.
