With Winamp you could write a wav, while playing mp3.
So, what you need is a ripper, like MusicMatch Jukebox (see
www.download.com).

You'd be ahead to get a proper ripper program for that instead. CDex
is good, freeware, get it here: http://www.cdex.n3.net

Dunno about the technical detail/background, but when a cd has some
scratches on it, EAC gives a better result (imo)
