Searching for video that doesn't include mpg

I am using 3.54 beta that I have backed up from many years ago. Is
there a better version? I have been to settings/library/ and have
made a custom vid search that uses vid (.avi .mpk .mp4) It doesn't
show up in the list of file types. I also edited text (.avi .mpk
.mp4) But if I pick the text tab it still searches for .txt
I also tried search -mpg and -.mpg mpg files still show up in the
search.
