My favorite was Micky... Any other opinions?

I think that depends on what kind of music you like and what you look for in a
singer. If you like more country, you're going to go for Mike. Mine is a toss
up between Mike and Micky.

Although Nez was/is my personal favorite, Micky was/is the "voice of the
Monkees" to me.

I agree. Although I don't care for Micky's voice currently, he was the voice
of the Monkees, their lead singer, their "sound" of the 60s.

For me it's a tough choice between my personal favorite, Nez, and Micky. If
I was to be objective, I would have to say Mike has the best voice, but
Micky's voice is more closely associated with the group.

I guess I'd have to vote for Mike, although Peter is a close second (wish he'd
had more chances for lead vocals).

Boy, that's a toughy. Davy had the Broadway training but Mike had the
country/western twang. I'll go with Mike by a Monkee's paw.

Micky was very good, still has a great voice.
David Jones has gotten better with age,
and to me is the BEST NOW out of all of
them.

Peter all the way!!! I am sad that no one else thinks that :( I think if he
sang more there would be some different opinions...but I stand by my fave! Mike
is really good though, he can sing just about anything with that sweet voice of
his!

This is true.....I marvel at the way he can change his style from country to
contemporary in one set.

I agree with you there.......and I think Mike would agree with you too....in
"Elephant Parts", he spoofed a lounge singer.

I think Peter would sound much better if he stayed in his own range....I'm no
choral teacher, but I think he's a very good bass (he sounded excellent in Riu
Chiu as a bass), or somewhere in a lower range.

Davy would sound alot better if he worked on his nasal twang (?), he should
concentrate on singing from the chest instead of the head. He would also
benefit if he laid off the Broadway style of singing while singing a rock
ballad (or any rock song for that matter).

Micky is the best singer of the Monkees, but I fear he is losing the mellowness
of his voice these days........he sounds a little harder and a bit more bitter?
I wish he would go back to his style of yesteryear.

Stacy, I agree with everything you posted. Also have to agree with the
comment that Peter has a wonderful bass voice and I would love to hear more
of his singing in that range.

Davy is a Broadway song-n-dance man, all right, and it comes through in
everything he sings, but I love it!! I prefer his playful voice to his serious
voice. I am sure all of you ladies out there have had boyfriends/husbands who
put their arms around you from behind and sing silly little ditties in your
ear. That is what "Cuddly Toy" reminds me of. Another example of this is in
Titanic, when Jack holds Rose on the bow of the ship and starts singing "Come
with me, Josephine, in my flying machine" in her ear. That is what Davy's
playful voice reminds me of, and I hope he never changes it.

I must say I love Micky's voice. "Sometime In The Morning" just makes me
melt. For present times, I cried when he sang "Since I Fell For You" in
concert. Not because it was bad, but because it moved me *that* much! :)
