Micky Dolenz gets hired to entertain on an off-shore oil rig. He does a
terrific show, and everyone agrees to have him back again soon. After
the show, he goes into the galley. He asks the chef "Hey, are there any
young pretty girls around?" "There ain't no women on this rig, but
there's always Roger out back." Micky replies "Nawww, I'm not gay."
Several months later, Micky is indeed invited back, and does an even
better show! Afterwards, he goes into the galley, and asks the chef "Are
there any young pretty girls around?" "Sorry, Micky, there ain't no
women on this rig, but there's always Roger out back." Micky again
replies "Nawww, I'm not gay."
Micky gets invited back for a third show, and has his best
performance ever. Feeling quite good after the show, he goes into the
galley and asks the chef "Are there any young pretty girls around?"
"No, Micky, there ain't no women on this rig, but there's always Roger
out back." Micky, quite frustrated, asks him "How many people would know
if I went out back?" The chef thinks about it, and says "Seven." Micky
asks "How do you figure seven?" "Well, there's you, me, Roger, and the 4
guys holding him down, cuz he's not gay either."

Thanx! I didn't expect anyone to get that reference. ;-) Those shows are a
little hard to find in the good ol' USA, but I've managed to pick up 6 or 7
episodes. I'd love to find the 3 live shows they did! Anything with Mayall
and Edmondson is guaranteed priceless.

Well, not meaning to start anything...no really, I'm not... I've just always
thought that if any of the 4 were going to be gay, it would've been Davy. He
just has that foppish way about him. And he did seem to REALLY enjoy his
part in "Some Like It Lukewarm". But then, that's only my own arrogant
opinion (and as we all know, on amm opinions CAN be wrong). ;-) Honestly,
no harm intended. I'm sure he's quite virile to this day, and after all, he
does have several children. And, out of the 4 Monkees, I do think he puts on
the best solo performance, showmanship-wise.

Whew...I hope I talked myself out of THAT one.

Well..I get it. And while it doesn't offend me it doesn't make me laugh
either. It never did. (The first time I heard it the subject was a guy
delivering supplies). It's the kind of joke that makes me go "Uhh..yeah.
Funny" and shrug. But then humor is a very personal thing....much more
than tragedy. The same things can make us all cry, but what makes us laugh
is almost as unique as our fingerprints.

Uhm, well .... nah, nevermind <eg>

My basic question is this:
Why do people have to automatically assume that because someone doesn't find
something funny, that they're necessarily "humorless", and then there are those
who feel the need to throw childish inuendos and insults.

The lack of acceptance among people in here continually amazes me.

For the record, I thought the "joke" was, at best, a groaner ... certainly
nothing that caused me to laugh out loud.

A married couple is getting ready for a big Halloween party. As the husband
comes out of the shower he notices his wife is lying down. He asks here what is
wrong and she replies " I don't feel good so go to the party alone". The
husband says if your not going I don't want to go. Again she reassures him it's
fine to go alone. Eventually he puts his wolfman costume on and leaves for the
party. 3 hours later the wife awakes and feels better. So she decides to go to
the party knowing her husband does not know what her costume is, she figures to
see what he is up too. As she enters the party she witnesses her husband
flirting and dancing with every available woman at the party. She decides to
take him to the car, go all the way and grill him when he gets home. When he
arrives home the wife awakens and says "How was the party?" He replies "It was
okay, but I wish you were there".She says" you didn't do anything intresting".
And he replies "No, me and the guys played poker all night, but let me tell you
about the guy I lent my costume to" Hee Hee! Hope you all enjoyed.

Well....I knew a girl who kept in touch with Micky (one of his girlfriends, I
guess you'd say), and she claimed to have been involved in after-party orgies
with ol' Locksley. Guys and girls, and (allegedly) Micky had fun with both.
I've heard someone else confirming this type of activity, but who knows???? And
to be honest, who cares anyway? Bowie and Jagger did it in the closet
frequently, but that's not what I'm thinking about when I listen to their
music, you know?

Yeah, who cares....but listen bucko. I could swear I've seen your very
Monkee-saturated webpage and I thought you were a big fan. But if you are, why
must you envelop such private information if it is true. If it's true you're
degrading Micky, and if it's not true, well, you're both lying and degrading
Micky. Anyone who really gets into this stuff is a real sicko, so lay off the

see four human beings who are sometimes good and sometimes not so good, who have likes,

A lot of what is deemed "private" is a matter of judgement. THese types of stories have been

The difference between what Joe posted and what David posted is pretty simple:
Joe posted gossip. David didn't. I doubt anyone would really have ganged up
on you if you had taken your stance against what Joe had wrote. But you ganged
up on David for repeating something that Micky has made public record.
*important* DAVID didn't make it "publicly archived", MICKY did ... get it?
... you should really heed your own advice and listen to logic. There's
nothing shameful with admitting you're wrong.

No there is not. And I have no problem admitting that I am wrong when I am.
But I do not feel that I am in this case. What you and the rest don't seem to
get is that I wasn't objecting to the *actual* statement that David made. I
was objecting to the fact that Micky's personal/private life was being referred

Well, maybe we should just have laws outlawing the stupid people. Then
the rest of us could get on with our lives.
