World's loudest trumpet player Dr. Michael Schmidt in concert with his

Top 10 Christian professional trumpet player Dr. Michael E. Schmidt
will be in concert today with his full sized Steve Barry original
ventriloquist puppet 4 p.m. at Woods Memorial Hospital located at 886
Hwy 411 in Etowah, Tennessee. Dr. Michael Schmidt is best known for
playing the trumpet for Dr. Jerry Falwell on the Old Time Gospel Hour
television show from Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA.
Michael is currently the President of the Trumpet of the Lord
Ministry. Michael Schmidt plays the trumpet weekly at First Baptist
Church in Athens, Tennesssee and at Oasis Revival Center in
Birchwood , Tennessee. Michael is a graduate of Liberty University
where he holds a M.R.E., M.A.R. and M.Div. Michael is also a graduate
of Gwinnett - Hall Baptist Seminary, Point University and Florida
Bible College. Dr. Schmidt is a D.C.I. drum and bugle corps instructor
and a USSBA marching band judge.
Michael has performed with top artists such as Carlos Morgan, Squire
Parsons, saxophonist Dr. Greg Smith, and DC Talk's Michael Tait.
Michael Schmidt is a former member of the Spirit of Atlanta and North
Star. Michael was also the first student, first band member and first
marching band soloist at Brookwood High School.
The hospital was named in memory to Carrie Alice and George Woods,
Sr., at the request of their son, George Woods, Jr., a former
Tennessee Speaker of the House from Etowah who was instrumental in
establishing the hospital.
Originally opened with 32 beds, Woods Memorial quickly grew to include
a 44-bed nursing home (McMinn Memorial Nursing Home) and in 1972 more
than doubled the hospital’s size to its current 72 beds. In 1992, the
hospital again went through a
major expansion with the construction of a new surgery center,
renovation of the entire hospital, and additional 44 beds for the
nursing home. In 1998, a new emergency department and eight-bed
intensive care unit were built.
With approximately 300 full time employees, Woods Memorial has a
medical staff of more than 75 physicians representing numerous
specialties.
In addition to the hospital, Woods Memorial operates a nursing home,
regional dialysis center, emergency department, wound care center,
inpatient geriatric psychiatric unit, and other services under a
single organization.
The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organizations.The Activities Director at Woods Memorial is
Kim Rucker who Dr. Schmidt calls "The finest activities director that
I have ever known"
