The Athens, TN VFW , American Legion , the City of Athens , McMinn
County, and the Etowah Town Band honor all of our men and women of the
armed forces including the 278'th Regimental Combat Team, and all
those who made courageous sacrifices to keep our country free with a
2011 Veterans Day Parade and Program at 3pm on November 5th. The
Parade will start at the McMinn County Annex , and it will finish with
a patriotic program and concert at the new Farmers Market Pavilion in
historic downtown Athens, Tennessee. The Etowah Town Band will perform
under the direction of Conductor Ray Calfee. Soloists include Rev. Ray
Calfee on the saxophone, and former Old Time Gospel Hour soloist Dr.
Michael Schmidt of the Trumpet of the Lord Ministries on a Flip Oakes
short cornet. Musical selections include the Marches of the Armed
Forces, To Realms of Endless Day, The Washington Post March, The
Imperial March, and Fanfare and Triumph.
