I'm trying to guess how much a King of Pop family portrait would fetch on the
open market. Catherine-Zeta is expected to get about a million for a picture
of her baby. Jacko got over a half-million for the Prince life pictures.
Noone really knows what Paris looks like, save for her shrouded visage under
the purple veil. Blanket is already almost as famous as his daddy. Doubtless
a family portrait could keep Neverland running for at least a couple years.

I say no less than $10 million.

Anyone else care to hazard a guess?

No more than $500,000 again, especially since people are even less
interested now. The only time people really talk about him is when he
does something really bizarre or doesn't put on makeup. It's not a real
stretch to picture the kids. The masks don't hide anything but standard
child features. I don't think people would be more interested than
giving it a passing glance.

Now maybe if you got a pool together from the internet fan clubs, you
might see a million.

i think OK Magazine or another Euro tabloid would pay substantially more than
$500,000. heck, they paid $2.5 more for Liza's wedding.

the vast majority of King of Pop fans don't even know these internet forums
exist. most people still rely on traditional media sources to keep informed
about celebrities. people like you and me are the anomalies, not the norm.

There really aren't a vast amount of fans at all anymore and I guess you
wouldn't really be able to pool them without the internet, so I guess the
$500k is still tops then if you can't get a million from the clubs.

i'm not talking about fans. i'm talking about consumers of media in general.
they total in the billions. the media has been obsessed with capturing MJ's
children for years, and if Michael one day said, "enough ... to the highest
bidder" then i don't think we would be seeing paltry offers of $500 thousand
being bandied about.

there are many other factors that could influence the eventual price of a
family portrait as well. more later.

Probably not anymore. As I said, we've seen how the public has lost
interest after seeing the first couple of shows and there is really nothing
to see on the kids' faces that other kids don't have. I don't think his
family portrait would bring too much.

no, there's a lot of people -- like just about any black person -- that would
be curious to see once and for all what Michael's children really look like.
We've got little glimpses, but only the obsessed and fetishists saw the pics of
Prince and Paris with their heads sticking out the window when Michael was
working on MIB2. and through the yellow veil we could sort of tell there was
some sort of baby under there, but Blanket's appearance will change rapidly in
the coming months, and people are going to wonder what the "dangled one" looks
like.

also, i think you're argument regarding the declining trend in MJ's television
numbers is faulty.

How so? Declining interest in a topic results in declining viewership.
People are overdosed on MJ shenanigans.

So do you think the steadily declining numbers for MJ specials have been
fabricated, then? And if you think they're geniune, how do *you* explain the
decline? Take your time, don't stress that big melon on the top of your
neck.

Only fans, not the general public. They could care less.

Why do you say especially black people anyway?

Think whatever you want but it doesn't change the fact that each show's
numbers declined.

The first public picture(s) of Prince, Paris, Blanket, and Michael (together,
un-masked and de-veiled) will cause millions of shiny gold coins to magically
rain down on to Neverland. The only way I could be wrong is if Michael usurps
the photo paparazzi by doing some sort of very public television event - like a
week at Oprah's ranch, with all her head doctors and gurus joining together to
evaluate Michael's glorious children for any signs of maladroitness or
melancholia.

Blanket da King,

I thought that the Nationa Enquirer paid Hello! magazine a million
dollars for the first photos of Prince.

I remember how the HYPOCRITCAL media was accusing MJ of selling the
photos and it was the Enquirer who bought them from Hello!

I wonder where is the outrrage from the media to Michael and Catherine
Douglas.

Double standards AGAIN!!!

Nat says>"..there really isn't a vast majority of fans anymore.."

And you are basing this on what?

The initial sales of Invincible compared to the first week sales of Bad,
Dangerous, HISTORY, and probably Thriller. Of course, we will never know
the full potential of Invincible, because of the dispute with
Sony/Mottola and the subsequent "abortion" of the album.

Hypocrite! Yet, YOU still obsess over him every day. Does this finally
mean that you will stop watching him, obsessing over him, and analyzing
every detail of his life?

Liar, you know that you will be watching as much as the fans will.

$500,000? It was reported that NE paid $1,000,000 for Prince's photos.
They bought them from the Hello! magazine.

I fail to see how 7.8 or 8 million(as some outlets reported) is
considered a faiilure.

Here is a man who has had THREE different specials in less than three
months. Before the PHM, he has drawn over 60 million viewers. For ANYONE
to draw another 8 million after all of this, is phenomenal.

I also find it amusing that Madonna only drew only about a million more
viewers, than what is regular, from her appearance on Will and Gracae
and the media trumpets this as a success. Another example of the
biasness of the media.

An objective view, should have stated what I said above, concerning MJ's
previous viewership and apply that to his latest.

Of course, we know that 99.9% of the time, the media is NEVER objective
when it comes to Michael. This has always been the case, and is nothing
new.

Nat,

It should be fairly obvious with the oversaturation of MJ in the media,
that numbers were going to decline. Who is naive enough to believe that
this was not going to happen?

What you and others fail to realize is that almost 8 million people
STILL tuned in to see some HOME movies, even after all of the previous
MJ specials.

Even if the HM Special were to have been a ratings bonanza for the
network, someone would come up with something to downplay it's success
no matter what. Fact of the matter is Pam, they look for something
negative because they want MJ to fail...

You'd love that, wouldn't you?

Nobody wants him to fail. He just keeps screwing up. Nobody ever wanted
him to become the joke that he is. He did all of that to himself.
